makes a loud splash, but thank God, the well is deep and we have something with which to draw and the draught satisfies. Thank God for the Lord’s Day Alliance, and for countless numbers of well-diggers who propose under God to keep this well cleared of rubbish. . We come now to the great Bible Well. God Himself provided it that all men might drink and live. If there is one well more than any other that the devil hates and has sought to poison and even seal; if there is one well above all others that men must have access to, it is the Bible Well.. P oisoning the W ells of L ife The enemy succeeded in shutting out our school chil dren from this well. Do you know that an effort is being made to organize among the young people of our schools and colleges what is termed a “Damned Souls Society?” I have before me a letter from one of the officers of the organization. Listen to these words: “What chance is there to establish a Damned Souls Society in Occidental College? The Damned Souls of Rochester, Yale, etc., say that they have started with a bang thus far this year. Have you a few bold spirits there?” Under the caption, “The Devil’s Angels,” organized in Los Angeles, here is a bit of their constitution; “The name .of this Society shall be The Devil’s Angels, the Los Angeles Branch of the American Association for the Advancement of Atheism.” Membership shall be open to all atheists who endorse its objects and purposes * * * * Membership dues shall be 50c per month, payable in advance or in installments. Have you joined the A.A.A.A.?” Is it not time we awoke to the peril of a poisoned Bible Well ? I hold in my hand a copy of an announcement of The Junior Atheist League for Boys and Girls .from 7 to 17. It reads: “The philosophy of atheism is to be planted in the mind of youth. In response to many requests for increased activity among young people, the Junior Atheist League is established. Godless children shall have an Opportunity to emancipate their companions from unreas onable religion. The League will remove boys and girls from the evil influence of the clergy. It will encourage them to protest against Bible reading in the schools and against religious worship. Children shall be told' the truth about the Bible and Christianity. The magical, animistic and phallic or sexual origins of religion will be explained in simple language. * * * * Dispelling the illu sion of. immortality, the League will free sons and daugh ters from the fear of hell and hope of heaven. Sacrifice for post-mortem considerations will be shown to be crim inal folly. * * * * A comprehensive program has been arranged. Picnics and out’.ngs * * * * will take the place of the stultifying Sunday schools. * * * * Send in a list of students and pupils in your locality to be circularized,” etc., and there follows the name and address of a young girl with her address as Secretary of the League. Well-diggers, are you awake now to the awful need to cleanse the wells and to guard them ? The boys and girls of our homes are endangered; the youth of our land is menaced.' By God’s help let us arise and dig out again the wells that our fathers digged, and let us see to it that these wells are properly guarded. “Day of all the week the best, Emblem of eternal rest.” ;;.

The Hindered Christ The Lord Christ wanted a tongue one day, to speak a word of cheer To a heart that was weary and worried and sad, and weighed with a mighty fear. He asked for mine, but ’twas busy quite with my own affairs from morning till night. The Lord Christ wanted a hand, one day to do a loving deed. He wanted two feet, on an errand for, him, to run with gladsome speed. But I had need of my own that day; to His gentle calling I answered “Nay.” So all that day I used my tongue, my hands, and my feet as I chose; I said some hasty, bitter words that hurt one heart, God knows! I busied my hands with worthless play, and my willful feet went a crooked way. And the dear Lord Christ-M-was His work undone for lack of a willing heart? Only through us does He speak to the world—dumb must He be apart I do not know—but I wish today I had let the Lord Jesus have His way. -—A lice N ichols .
