There is an inevitable connection between rejection of the God revealed in the Bible and debased morals. Nothing but a knowledge of the true, personal God, who has revealed Himself in Jesús Christ, can teach and enforce purity. Atheism and agnosticism have ever tended the other way. The man who pushes God to one side can never be what God intended him to be. Our young folks should not be in a hurry to join this new “spiritual union” so cleverly designed to separate them from the Bible and the God of their fathers. His tory is bound to repeat itself. Now, as in the past, those who trust themselves away from God and in the field of pure speculation, are liable to the lowest solicitations of an unregenerate nature. The picture of this natural heart gone to seed may be seen in the closing verses of the first chapter of Romans; Our nation is fast headed for this abyss of evil to which skepticism has never failed to lead in the past. The Tenacious F a ith of Mrs. Wang M RS WANG’S home was just across the street from the house occupied by Biola Band No. 3, (one of Dr. Frank Keller’s Evangelistic Bands working under the Bible Institute in Hunan, China). As these streets are only about ten feet wide she could hear all the preaching from her front door. Evening after evening her interest increased and one evening, having noticed her close atten tion to the preaching, one of the evangelists spoke to her. She said that they had moved to this village from their distant home several years previous on account of the severe famine conditions there, and that since their arrival here her life had been full of sorrow, consequently on the first and fifteenth of each month she had faithfully and zealously offered incense to the idols and had frequently engaged in long periods of prayer and fasting, but that no relief had come to her. Then she added: “I have been listening to your preach ing and have learned from you that there is only one true God, and that besides Jesus Christ there is no Saviour. Since hearing this I have lain awake nights thinking of it over and over again until I am convinced that it is true. It also reminded me of what I used to read in my father’s Chinese classics about God, but I never read anything in his books about Jesus Christ, nor have I ever heard of Him before. Will you kindly give me some books that will tell me about Jesus?” F a ith F attened on T rials Gladly they gave her the books and she soon made a public confession of her faith and joined the Bible class for the daily study of God’s Word. Her husband came to a few meetings but the truth did not seem to take root in his heart; on the contrary he abused and cursed his wife and tried to prevent her from attending the meetings. “The more she suffered the stronger grew her faith; a hundred obstacles could not turn her.” She told the evan gelists that she was praying daily for her husband and for her mother-in-law and asked them to join her in prayer for their conversion saying; “If they would only repent and believe what a happy home we would have.” The report written two months later tells of the increase' of the persecutions, and of Mrs. Wang’s con tinued growth in grace. “Above all, taking the shield o f faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the ■fiery darts o f the wicked. And take the helmet o f sal vation, and the sword o f the Spirit, which is the word of God”

Who Will Help ? T HIS is the title of a most subtle piece of literature that is being widely circulated among the young peo ple of high schools and colleges. It bears the signature of A. W. Lever, who styles himself “Honest Law and Sci entific Religion Advocate,” and is a part of the propa ganda commented on heretofore in this paper. If the name “American Atheists Association” does not have an appeal to some, “Scientific Religion” is clever bait for the immature minds of many young folks who already are in a state of confusion as to religion. The trap is the same. Spiritual life cannot exist either in the dim fog of atheism or the rarified air of “scientific ? religion.” ; The “Who Will Help?” circular begins by seeking to enlist the young people in a movement to “render per sonal, useful service to society; to encourage thrift; to stimulate enterprises of benefit to society; to promote a natural brotherhood and declare for a spiritual union of all mankind. People of all creeds are invited into this “spiritual union.” Approaching the end, we discover that the spiritual views of the members are to be “corrected, improved and revised according to the best scientific knowledge of the age.” They are asked to “abandon all faith in the super natural and superstitions, and all rites and rituals based upon them.” The way is now well paved for the statement that the only God there is is nature. God is “a great catalyptic power that has called forth the invisible and visible worlds.” He is impersonal and natural, living in nature. I ts A n A ncien t E rror The Epistle to the.Romans informs us of those who, by some process of reasoning, eliminated from their minds the personal God, to whom not only the Bible, but all cre ation, points, and of the sad results of their philosophy. “They became vain in their thinking, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.” The fruit of this philosophy was the awful moral degeneration described in Rom. 1 :21-32, It is strange that Mr. Lever, and others who are so vigorously plying their unbelief among the youth of the land today, are not better readers of history. Social civilization, mental culture and the brotherhood of man idea invariably have failed to banish even the grossest lusts from a people.
