four years later, however, the company has become established as the UK’s largest independent exporter

ten reasons for andusia’s success: n Developing strong, long-term relationships with energy-from-waste plants throughout Europe. n Creating a variation of supply routes, and using only back-haul logistics tominimise environmental impact. n Enabling diversification of suppliers and customers. n Using an innovative approach to logistics with bespoke tracking and management software. n Offering ‘just in time’ delivery. n Using a network of regional UK Environment Agency- approved hauliers to minimise road miles and meet stringent environmental standards. n Working only with the highest standards of CHP plant – so RDF is not disposed, but recovered for energy. n Taking a ‘waste’ product with negative value and utilising it positively. n Showing the operational and commercial agility to stay ahead of the competition, despite its size.

for Enterprise this year makes andusia the only exporter of refuse derived fuel (rdf) to have ever achieved such a prestigious accreditation. The Award for International Trade recognised Andusia’s impressive overseas sales

(number 1 to Norway and Sweden; and number 2 to Germany). Andusia also plan to expand into exporting different waste types including Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) used in the cement manufacturing process. Through the exceptional achievement of the Queen’s Award, Andusia is now building upon its reputation for game-changing innovation. “We’ve worked extremely hard on building international relationships, being environmentally aware and sustainable – so I guess this is our reward for those first four years,” reveals Andusia’s Director, Steve Burton. “But this is really only the start. After all, who’d have thought that the guys who deal with rubbish would get to meet the Queen!” ANDUSIA RECOVERED FUELS LTD The Townhouse, 114-116 Fore Street, Hertford SG14 1AJ Tel: +44 (0)1992 666266 Fax: +44 (0)7092 356857 enquiries@andusia.co.uk www.andusia.co.uk p Andusia Recovered Fuels Limited

growth from £2.6m to £16.9m within three years, reflecting a remarkable rise of 545% over the period. By utilising waste otherwise destined for UK landfill, Andusia’s work has proven tangible benefits for society and the environment, satisfying both the UK need to remove excess waste and the demand from Europe for high-quality RDF to power CHP (Combined Heat and Power) and manufacturing processes. “We’re proud to gain such a prestigious award as recognition for expanding and developing this sector – but also honoured that this accolade is unique for our industry,” comments Andusia’s Director, Stewart Brackenbury. In 2012, its first year of trading, Andusia exported around 13,000 tonnes of Refuse Derived Fuels (RDF) and was the 13th largest exporter in the UK. Just
