case study: communicating value to payors situational analysis Porterhouse was approached by a large multinational pharmaceutical company with an extensive oncology portfolio. Each product within the portfolio offered patients a range of features and benefits and was used by healthcare professionals at different points along the patient journey. The competitive landscape for each product was also different. These complexities meant that each product had a different ‘value story’. The client’s objective was to furnish its large, rapidly growing internal team with the means to communicate effectively the value story and key messages for each product to the payors within several country’s healthcare systems, i.e. those responsible for making decisions about financial support for a particular product. Porterhouse’s strategic approach Following internal deliberations and discussions with the client, Porterhouse proposed the following services: n A bespoke clinical programme to upskill internal team members and offer practical one-to-one experience in a leading oncology centre n A platform for frank and transparent discussions with leading clinicians to obtain answers to inform product positioning n Identification of key market influencers via stakeholder mapping. outcomes Following the period of consultation and development, the programme was executed to the full satisfaction of the client, who reported: n A confident team with a deep understanding of the oncology patient pathway and the value of each product within the portfolio n Better knowledge of the roles of different clinicians and their appreciation of the value of each of the company’s oncology products n Superior communications with customers and a validated stakeholder engagement strategy. Jon concluded, “This is just one example of the type of tailored solution that we specialise in at Porterhouse, but all our clients can expect the same level of creativity, excellence in execution and professionalism that has become our hallmark – and one of the reasons why we have been successful enough to win The Queen’s Award for Enterprise.”
