Xiros Ltd Established in 1982, Xiros designs, develops and manufactures medical implants for repair and reconstruction of ruptured ligaments, tendons and other connective tissues. Predominantly textile-based and made from polyester, the devices are used by surgeons worldwide to improve quality of life for patients who have sustained injuries through trauma or whilst playing sport. The artificial nature of the implants, together with their minimally invasive surgical procedures, mean that traditional surgical repair methods which involve harvesting tissue from the patient’s own body or from a cadaveric donor can be avoided. This shortens postoperative recovery time and reduces the risk of infection or disease transmission. Xiros also works in collaboration with healthcare professionals, global medical device companies and academic institutions to provide various routes to market for inventions in the orthopaedic and sports medicine fields. Over 95% of the company’s sales are exported, and a 44% year-on-year growth in recent years has resulted in Xiros receiving The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade this year. However, with great success comes great responsibility. Xiros cares deeply about the environment, and through regular donations to a carbon offsetting charity which plants sustainable forests in
