Air ServiceTraining (Engineering) Ltd air Service Training (engineering) Ltd (aST), a wholly owned subsidiary of perth College uhi, is a global aviation training and consultancy company with a long and distinguished history, being the longest established organisation of its type in the world. AST began training pilots in 1931 when industry Aircraft Engineering Course under AST approval. To celebrate its Queen’s Award, AST offered two scholarships, worth over £33k each. The two scholarship winner, Michael Craik and Robbie Hall, will undertake the full 2 year approved course.

AST is approved under the EASA Part 147 regulations to deliver approved Aircraft Engineering courses to meet the requirements of the Part 66 regulations in all but one category AST has an impressive list of former students, having trained such famous aviators as Mildred Bruce, the first female pilot to circumnavigate the globe, and Amy Johnson, famous for her record breaking flights to Australia and Japan. AST received The Queen’s Award in recognition of the outstanding performance by demonstrating substantial growth in overseas earnings, sustained commercial success and ethical operations in all business activity. AST provides its training service at its main site in Perth, Scotland, but also projects this training at 4 academies and a number of examination centres across the globe. In early 2016, AST celebrated the graduation of the first Aviation Mechanics from Keilir Aviation Academy – a Second Site Academy Partner running the Part 66
