Since winning The Queen’s Award we have continued our strong growth in all four market sectors and have been recognised by a further 30 international design and product innovation awards. medical and Scientific Our largest sector, medical and scientific, led by Managing Director RobWoolston, has continued to build on its success as one of the world’s leading medical device design teams, following the award winning SoloSTAR® and ClikSTAR® insulin injection pens developed for Sanofi with the successful launch of four more injection devices for Sanofi, all of which have won international awards. One of these devices, AllStar™, is the first reusable insulin injection pen produced by a global company in India. This injection device is targeted at patients in emerging markets and is the product of a rigorous, evidence-based development process undertaken by Sanofi and DCA. The latest insulin pen launch, Toujeo® SoloStar®, has also recently won a prestigious 2015 Chicago Athenaeum Good Design Award. In the last year, our medical and scientific team’s earlier work with Elekta has also been announced. Plans for the commercial release of Elekta’s Atlantic – a high-field MRI-guided radiation therapy system – are in place for 2017, with the first systems incorporating this game-changing technology delivered a year later. In 2012, as part of a wider engagement, we worked with Elekta to create a future vision for the industrial design and usability of the Atlantic system. This extensive project drew on our full service offering. The future vision was informed by a detailed evidence base and grounded with collaborative technical reviews. A body of evidence was collected from visits to numerous treatment sites worldwide, over 90 hours of observations (approximately 360 treatment sessions) and over 50 in-depth interviews with health care professionals, thought leaders and system stakeholders. Consumer Our consumer sector team has also continued to flourish, consolidating its position as one of the world’s premier design teams for FMCG brands and consumer healthcare with a series of successful launches for some of the world’s biggest brands. In the personal care category we were involved in the creation of the new aerosol can for LYNX body spray, helping Unilever successfully engineer a unique sensorial experience for the user in a very high volume, low cost product. This project is an example of a growing list of close collaborations and launches between DCA and Unilever’s deodorant team. In oral care, our team has helped GSK launch a series of award winning products for the Senosdyne and Aquafresh brands including a range of kids’ toothbrushes and mouthwash bottles. Further
