Alleynian The Little
Issue 8, 2025
It is my great pleasure to share with you the eighth edition of Little Alleynian As I write, I have just returned from watching a wonderful performance of Peter Pan The Musical at the Edward Alleyn Theatre, delivered so brilliantly by our DUCKS Year 2 children. They produced a spectacular performance, excelling in all areas – not just in their delivery but in recalling the many songs, dance routines and stage directions. It is a wonderful opportunity for our Year 2 children to perform at the College theatre and each year I am prompted to reflect on their journey through DUCKS, with many of them joining from the Kindergarten. It is inspiring to watch the children develop year on year and this final theatre performance is a culmination of all their achievements. It was a joy to watch our Year 2s on stage, beaming with enthusiasm and confidence. We started the year with a ‘Whiz, Pop, Bang!’ which was our creative curriculum theme for the Michaelmas term. ‘Innovation & Invention’ followed during the Lent term and the academic year has finished with ‘Discovery’. Amongst the highlights was a hands-on show with children stepping inside bubbles and a warm favourite of mine was the DUCKS community coming together to build a sustainable DUCKS Town with each year group taking an area of responsibility, providing a perfect example of collaboration and innovation. This term children have been immersed in a world of science and geographical discovery, and we are very grateful to the College science department for leading the spectacular science shows. Our DUCKS values, Determined, Unique, Confident, Kind and Selfless form the threads of our identity and are on show throughout the year. They are reflected not only through the children but also by our wonderfully supportive families. We are a community of many different families yet together we share one main aim – a determination to ensure our children have the very best learning journey and grow in kindness and confidence. I would like to thank all our DUCKS families and bid a warm ‘see you soon’ to those families moving on to new adventures.
Best wishes Jo Parker Head of DUCKS

It is always bittersweet to bid farewell to valued members of our team, but we do so with immense gratitude and sincere congratulations. This academic year, we celebrate those moving on to exciting new chapters, whether retiring after years of dedicated service, relocating to the countryside for a change of pace, returning to University or setting off on adventures abroad. Each departure marks the end of a cherished contribution to school life and the beginning of a new journey, and we send our heartfelt thanks and wish them every success for the future.
