21. Fullness of Joy to Come “In thy presence is fulness of joy” (Psa. 16:11). The Bible teaches us to ease our bit terest cups of sorrow with the continual meditation and constant expectation of the fullness of joy to be ours when 'at last we come into the ’ Taster’s presence. May none rob us of v.s divine means of grace. There wii. be nothing in heaven to breed sorrow—joy and noth ing but joy! In this world, the joy of the Lord enters into us, but we are wel comed into that world with the words: “Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” 22. Our Shelter “He shall cover thee with his feath ers” (Psa. 91:4). What a wonderful expression is this! What transcendant condescension that the infinite Jehovah should speak of His feathers, as though He likened Himself to a little bird! As a bird covers her nestlings, so does the Lord shelter 'the souls that dwell in Him. One writer
let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf” (1 Pet. 4:16). One of the sublimest, most powerful of all virtues is to suffer well. The Christian who can learn to suffer t fpr the glory of God bears a testimony which makes a tremendous impression. . . . We may prove to others by our patient, Christlike endurance that the Lord Jesus is able to distill the dew of His grace in what seems to be the most barren wilderness. The Bock Above the Waters “Lead me to the rock that is higher than I” (Psa. 61:2). It is the image of one overtaken by the tide as he is hastening onward tc get beyond its reach, yet with every step he sees it rolling nearer and nearer to him. . . . In the depths of despair, he sees a point of rock high above the waters. . . . Child of God, if the swirling tides are coming in about you, do not fail to send up the cry: “Lead me to the rock!” That Rock is Christ. 20.

Feeling God’s Hand “I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up” (Psa. 88:15). We may be God’s children, and yet still be under persecution. We may be IBs. Israel and yet be afflicted from our youth up. We may feel God’s hand as a Father upon us when He strikes us, as well as when He strokes us. When He strokes us, it' is lest we faint under His hand. When He strikes us, it is that we should recognize His hand. 19. The Sublime Virtue “Yet if any man suffer as a Christian,
