GOSPEL BROAD W h e n e v e r Panama is mentioned, one immediately thinks of the large canal through which ships travel from one vast ocean to another. But for those interested in Gospel broad casting, Panama brings to mind an important missionary broadcasting voice which also serves as a “ canal.” Its messages of light and hope point to the one Way who alone makes passage from earth to heaven possible, even the Lord Jesus Christ. Ten years ago, a group of American Christian businessmen, working in the Canal Zone, secured the facility HOXO, “ The Voice of the Isthmus.” The station was dedicated to broad casting the old, old story of Jesus and His love. Eventually the work was turned over to the World Radio Mis sionary Fellowship (HCJB), and the Latin American Mission (which oper ates TIFC in Costa Rica and YNOL, Managua, Nicaragua ). Starting with 500 watts, of power, the station has now gone to 5,000 watts and has a potential listening audience of 743,000 people. According to Paul Pretiz, manager (LAM ), “ It is difficult to say exactly how many listeners we have, for this area is ex periencing a tremendous population increase.” Program director for the important outlet is Robert Beukema (WFRM), who states that with the tremendous
