Biola Broadcaster - 1964-11

One of the everyday mysteries of life is that people who have the least to do are usually the ones in the biggest hurry. * * * Consider the truth that if God spared not His own Son, how can He possibly spare those who have rejected Christ as Saviour. * * * One of the hardest things about making money last is making it first. * * * Some people grow under responsibility, others merely swell. * * * The person with the smallest mind is usually the one who is most willing to give someone else a piece of it. TRUE WISDOM Recently, a former student of Co lumbia University sued his alma ma ter because he complained that they had failed to teach him wisdom. This was an interesting legal case. Wisdom has always been one of the most sought after commodities in the world. Yet true wisdom never comes on the hori zontal plane, it is always vertically giv en from God Himself. A fool may go to college but when he is finished, he is only an educated fool. He may receive knowledge, have practical experience and be schooled through technical abilities, but true perception and di vine wisdom come only from God. This is the principle and basis for our teaching here at Biola. We seek to impart that which is based upon God’s Word to the hearts of dedicated and devoted young men and women. Your gifts to Biola have made this possible since 1908. Thank you for your share in preparing tomorrow’s spiritual leaders. * * * Any coin will hide the biggest star in the universe if you hold it close enough to your eye. * * * Success consists of getting up just one time more than you've fallen down. * * * Men who do things that count, never stop to count. * * * If so many people weren't so glad to carry it, gossip would not travel nearly so far. 35

We are not to determine the character or the ability of a person because he is rich or poor. The Lord has allowed riches to come to some and poverty to others. Often this is due to the sel- GIVE ME A SONG Give me a song, dear God, in the morning, Give me a song at the break of day: Give me a song lest the hours grow weary, Give me the help of a song on the way. Days are so long, and burdens so heavy, Tired are the faces I see passing by: They seem so hungry, dear God, and so helpless, Oh how they need some song from on high. So if I covet one gift in the morning, It is the shine of heaven in my face, Banishing gloom for the worn and the weary, Telling the story of infinite grace. — Ralph Cushman fishness and greed of some individ uals. Our minds and hearts should be stayed first of all on the Lord Jesus Christ. It is wonderful the way the Lord provides some people with a great deal of wealth. Sometimes He may not be able to trust us with riches for in His infinite wisdom He knows that we would trust more in them than in Him. * In the ministry of your church, coming together isbeginning, keeping together is progress, but working together is success. * * * Like silverware, the more one uses good manners the easier it is to keep them polished. * *
