from the mineral kingdom, and thieves come from the human kingdom. It should be understood by each of us that every thing outside of Christ robs us. Every thing deteriorates; nothing gets better with age. Moth and rust destroy while we do not know about it and the thieves come when unexpected. Wealth Cannot Be Taken With Us Matt. 19:21 Everything that earth produces must be left with the earth when our spirits départ. Only that which comes down from God can be taken back to God. No amount of silver, gold, garments nor merchandise has any place in the next world. The salvation we receive from the Lord Jesus and the righteousness He gives may both be taken to Heaven with us. These get better with age while everything else fades and fails. Let us lay up treasures in Heaven. Wealth Cannot Be A Comfort Mark 16:24 Frequently those who have the great est riches have the deepest sorrows. Few of those who reach a position of financial sufficiency are easy to live with. These friends are very hard to work for. Noth ing pleases them. The style or the color or the shape or the fit or the price— something causes controversy and fre quently causes loss to the one who seeks to please. The rich feel that their money entitles them to something unusual. They are always wretched because they do not receive what they expect. The Holy Spirit is the Comforter who real ly comforts the heart and life. Wealth Cannot Fit Us For Heaven Prov. 11:4 The possession of gold, furs, lands, jewels, and other wealth is of no at traction to the eternal God whatever. He made all the things the rich possess and much more that is yet to be found in the ground. God requires a changed heart, a new life, a devotion to His Name, a love for Him, and a desire to please Him. Wealth brings none of these things but usualy brings the opposite. The Word of God ministered by the Spirit of God makes us fit for Heaven. Wealth Cannot Buy Salvation Psa. 49:7 God does not sell forgiveness. God is not a politician who can be bribed. Money will not put away the sins nor will any other kind of riches give eternal life to any person. Salvation is a miracle. When the Lord saves a man He changes that man and gives him the gift of eternal life, a robe of righteousness, and a new nature. Money nor jewels nor power nor social standing can affect this result nor give Heaven’s treasures to the soul. Nov. 2)6, 1950 WHAT DO I OWE TO GOD? Christ Provides Heart Satisfaction Prov. 23:26 Comfort and freedom are the blessed portions of the Christian. The heart craves peace, love, and joy. These are found in fellowship with the Saviour. The heart desires freedom from care, from worry, and from fretting. Our Sav iour spoke words of comfort and peace. The heart craves companionship and we are called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ. The heart hungers for permanent hope and this is found in the promises made by the Saviour. Christ Provides Soul Satisfaction Heb. 10:39 The soul is that part of the human be ing that craves things to eat, things to drink, things to feel, and taste, and hear. All the senses are satisfied by the soul of man either for good or for evil. That which the soul obtains from evil sources injures and harms the body. All that the soul obtains from Christ Jesus and His Word blesses and enriches the body. That which is given by the Lord Jesus is always a blessing. All other things curse the life. The soul is satisfied by feeding on the Bread of life and drinking of the Water of life, the Holy Spirit. Christ Provides Relief and Release John 16:33 We are often distressed by the limita tions of our bodies. We would like to be in two places at once. We would like to attain heights of mental training which seem always to be beyond our grasp. We are bound down by human things while we aspire to divine things. The Lord Jesus comes with liberating power and enables the believer to sit in heavenly places while walking in earthly paths. He lifts us up above the swamps of doubt and despair to walk with Him in victorious ways. Christ delivers from all bondage. Christ Provides Easy Service Matt. 11:30 If the Christian work we are doing is not easy and pleasant, then evidently we are not in the paths of the Lord. He promised that His yoke would be easy and His burden would be light. The com mandment of the Lord was “ in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest” (Ex. 34:21). These are the times that farmers do not rest. Our Lord wants us to learn how to rest in Him while work ing and serving. He wants us to learn how to do His work easily. It is a diffi cult lesson to learn but those who walk with the Lord in daily converse find He is sufficient. Nov, 19, 1950 WHO IS TRULY WEALTHY?
