National Scope, Regional Focus EMJ has regionally-designated teams across the country and an extensive network of experienced subcontractors nationwide. THE DIFFERENCE

Since 1968, EMJ Corporation has built more than 280 million square feet of construction projects within a variety of industries in 47 states. Whether building a hospital, a medical office building or a long-term care facility, EMJ focuses on delivering unique value through servant leadership to clients, partners and colleagues. APPROACH Concept-to-Completion (C2C®) is EMJ’s team approach to delivering unique value to clients, partners and colleagues. C2C empowers our team to produce an exceptional client experience through four strategic steps: Ask, Listen, Think and Do. The EMJ team performs these steps to customize its approach to each construction project based on a client’s vision, values and expectations. C2C promotes trust and collaboration, which cultivates proactive solutions, project strategies, risk identification and mitigation, maximized project potential, client satisfaction and unique client value. Through C2C, teams expand the construction approach from a focus on “building” and “immediate cost” to value and client-desired results. $12.6B # Total Construction Value of Engineering News-Record’s Top 400 Contractors in the U.S. Since 1968

Okemah Community Hospital This two-story, 105,000 square foot hospital will provide radiology, mammography, ultrasound, behavioral health, optometry and laboratory services. The design includes unique, natural elements such as a rammed earth wall—a sustainable technique for building walls using natural raw materials.

Regional Forensic Center

EMJ’s scope of work on this state-of-the-art forensic pathology lab included the reception and entry areas and the medical examiner’s administration and office space along with the death investigation, autopsy and morgue complexes. As the regional facility for death investigations and evidence collection serving West Tennessee, the structure had to be certified as essential, or fully operational and resistant to natural disasters. Securing this classification required added costs, time and specialty subcontractors. Upon a detailed plan review and discussion with the owner, EMJ recognized that the autopsy and morgue areas were the only parts of the building that could be at-risk by natural disasters and required essential classification. The remainder of the building, including the administrative areas, did not require extra fortitude. EMJ initiated a cost analysis, worked with the design team, and created a design modification that removed the essential classification from the majority of the structure. Due to strategic thinking, which resulted in these modifications, the client’s project was completed more than $416,000 under budget and nearly two weeks ahead of schedule.

HealthPark South EMJ constructed the structural steel and cast-in-place concrete shell of this multi- story medical office building along with the interior build out. The building consists of three main floors and an executive conference room on the fourth level. The second and third levels offer business offices, receiving areas, exam rooms, and treatment areas. Based on client satisfaction, EMJ was asked to provide decision phase services and construction management services for an imaging center and pharmacy build out on the first floor the following year. The center includes MRI, CAT scan, x-ray, DXA scan, mammography, and nuclear medicine machines.

Jack Brown Center EMJ partnered with the Cherokee Nation to build this transitional facility to support Native American youth recovering from substance abuse. The project consists of five buildings—three wood framed and two of pre-engineered metal. Our team worked collaboratively with the owner and design team to build consensus during the design phase and develop a facility that met the needs and specifications of the client.

Sutherland Cardiology Clinic This two-story clinic offers premier cardiology care with nuclear imaging suites, a CT scan area, echocardiography rooms, exam rooms, sleep labs, stress test areas, business offices and nurse stations. The modern facility is constructed of double-height steel panel and framed glass curtain wall system with unique finishes such as Spanish cedar entryways, an Arriscraft stone exterior, a metal panel canopy, and a wood-paneled porte-cochere.

Baptist Reynolds Hospice House

Designed to provide hospice care in a home-like environment, this facility is constructed of light gauge steel and wood-framed hybrid structure with stone and brick veneer and wood siding. High-end interior finishes further assist in creating the warm, comfortable environment for residents. EMJ constructed the administration building, bereavement center, and 24 private patient rooms with outdoor patios. The rooms allow ease of movement for residents in wheelchairs, access to the outdoors, and oxygen connections that are camouflaged behind artwork. The residence also includes large group living areas with fireplaces, a children’s playroom, chapel, café, spa, a full-service kitchen, and outdoor gardens. EMJ was brought on board the Baptist Reynolds Hospice House project late in the planning phase. Our team’s first step was to ask questions regarding the scope and thoroughly analyze the initial plans. After discussing with the design team, we questioned why the fire marshal was requesting two systems and learned that the State Health Department determined that the fire protection design needed to be separated into two systems in order to serve the patient and administration wings independently. With a potential budget overrun and extension on the project timeline due to the fire systems, the EMJ team researched alternative options and brought the client a design solution that allowed for one fire protection system throughout the building. The solution was approved and construction proceeded with minimal impact. As a result of our team’s research and creative solutions, the schedule was maintained, and the client was provided significant cost savings. 10

Methodist Hospital EMJ performed multiple additions, renovations and site work on the campus of this large, metropolitan hospital. EMJ’s scope included the construction of a multi-story, 166,000 square foot medical office building and a new emergency department with surgery rooms, recovery areas and 42 beds. Our team also constructed another 155,000 square foot expansion and 33,000 square foot renovation that included 93 patient rooms, operating rooms, cath labs, stress test areas, CT, X-ray and MRI capabilities, and a 368-space poured-in-place parking garage. EMJ also renovated the existing hospital, upgrading the maternity wing, administration areas, chapel and gift shop. The hospital remained open and fully operational throughout the duration of the 14 phases with each phase requiring a separate state inspection and certification.

Harbor View Nursing Home Harbor View is a 120-bed nursing and rehabilitation center located on a former industrial site. The EMJ team constructed the light gauge metal framing and steel hybrid structure and performed the interior build-out complete with private and semi-private suites, an Alzheimer’s wing, an oxygen wing, and a medical vacuum wing. EMJ’s scope also included the installation of a back-up generator that provides redundant electrical power. During site evaluation, the soil content was deemed unsuitable due to a large ratio of debris and organics. To remediate the site, the plans called for substantial undercut and backfill with select import material. Our preconstruction team researched alternate options and developed a remediation method that involved separation and removal of the debris through an on-site filtration system that could be performed in conjunction with the earthwork. As a result of implementing our team’s creative solution, the project was completed 10 weeks ahead of schedule and delivered $175,000 in savings to the client.

Baptist Hospital Golden Triangle EMJ constructed this 172,000 square foot, multi-story hospital tower. The facility offers 152 patient beds, nurse’s stations, a well baby nursery, a newborn ICU, labor and delivery and surgical suites along with a gift shop and cafeteria. The construction scope included a reinforced structural concrete frame, a chiller plant and a pneumatic tube system along with a medical gas system, integrated communication network, infant security system, and automated prescription delivery system.

Campbell Clinic EMJ built a two-story, 65,000 square foot clinical, business and physician office as well as an 11,000 square foot ambulatory surgery center on the Campbell Clinic campus. The office building features imaging and MRI facilities and a physical therapy area with a pool. Supported by four x-ray rooms, the 32 exam rooms and four casting rooms are organized in modules that provide distinct and efficient work areas. The surgery center houses operating rooms as well as pre- and post-op procedure rooms.

14

Christ Community Health Service Center EMJ’s team built a 19,600 square foot, ground-up clinic for a non-profit healthcare system, which provides health services to low-income community members. The structure hosts support areas including offices, nurse stations, a lab, patient waiting rooms and a patient area, which includes 18 patient rooms, 3 behavioral health rooms and procedure rooms. Also, this facility includes a dental area, pharmacy and teaching rooms.
