May 2022 Anchorlines

Chairman If you attended the April Membership meeting, you know that our General Manager resigned with an effective date of May 5, 2022. At the meeting, I reported that Mark had decided to resign for personal reasons and a significant opportunity that came his way. We appreciate the time we had with him and wish him well in his new endeavors. As I have indicated in several venues, staffing has been an issue for us over the past year. Adding a General Manager search to our 'list of things to do' becomes one more part of our overall staffing strategy for the coming year. With respect to the General Manager search, we engaged a recruiting firm

specializing in the hospitality industry. The firm has begun providing candidates for consideration. We have also had outreach from individuals wishing consideration for the position. These individuals will be added to the search process. We are creating a special sub-committee of the Board to review candidates, select those for further interviews, and present a recommendation to the Board of Directors for consideration. I am hopeful we will be able to select and onboard a new General Manager in the next 60 to 90 days. In the meantime, Carrie Brooks is being elevated to the position of Director, Food & Beverage Operations. In this role she will continue to be responsible for dining operations as well as assume responsibility for key functions related to our food and beverage operations and related Clubhouse functions. Carrie will report to the Chairman. Pam Dorr continues as Banquet Manager, with the responsibility of booking and overseeing banquets and related special events. She will continue to work with Carrie to coordinate banquet functions and our normal food and beverage operations and will report to the Chairman. Our Dockmaster, Missy Duffy, will continue to manage our marina operations, including coordination with sailing club activities. Missy will report to the Chairman. Finance Manager Karen Esala will continue to manage our accounting and financial recordkeeping functions, reporting to the Treasurer. Membership Services Coordinator Cynthia Hultquist will report to the Chair of the Membership Committee. Other staff functions will maintain their current reporting relationships during this interim period. The reporting relationships of the key staff positions will be realigned when a new General Manager is in position. We also have a few key initiatives underway, coordinated by the Human Resources Committee, that should improve our member experience next season. We are reviewing, and where appropriate, making changes to our benefits and compensation structures. We expect these changes to improve the recruiting of and retention of employees. We are also pursuing participation in the H2B visa program for non-agricultural workers starting in fiscal 2023, which allows us to bring in seasonal workers to support our operations. We will continue to update you as more information is developed. Dave Everitt
