Getting to Know You Our New Business Analyst

Zachariah Soto By MA Harlacker

Zachariah (Zach) Soto was born in Naples, Florida, and has lived there all his life. He earned his Bachelor of Computer Information Systems at Florida Gulf Coast University. His primary language is English, but he is studying Japanese. In his own words, “I am a big geek. I love watching anime, reading manga (Japanese comics), playing video games, and watching all kinds of movies. Right now, my favorite show to watch is Demon Slayer. I am currently reading the comics, My hero Academia, Black Clover, and Jujutsu Kaisen.”

Zach worked at both Apple retail and Chromebook Retail. He did plenty of tech work setting up and troubleshooting devices. He felt that the experience was “tons of fun, and always a fun time trying to figure out what was wrong with someone’s device.” And the best skills that he brings to the job? “Most of the tech work tends to be the knowledge that you learn, but there are skills outside of that you need to master. I think my problem-solving skills and patience are two of my assets. For example, not everyone has the best of what we call ‘technology literacy.’ It is up to the individual to be patient, and explain in different ways to a client, what Is happening to their device or service. Many times, especially on the retail side, I was the face of the company and had to provide the best service possible to make our clients as happy as we could.” For Zach, a typical day at MIYC starts by bringing a favorite snack (mostly pop tarts) and going through email. Then, he will go check around the club to see if anyone needs help. If not needed, he will start checking to make sure that the website and app are working well. Then Zach starts looking at his tasks sheet. In the next year, Zach’s goal is to become proficient in speaking Japanese. He would also like to start writing a comic book, or have the drafts done. And his personal motto? “Staying positive does not always mean being happy. It means to know that there are better days ahead.”
