thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift” (Matt. 5:24). Settle your differences. The Spirit of God is grieved and the work of salva tion comes to a standstill sometimes because professing Christians do not obey these words of Christ. The spir ituality of true righteousness read into the sixth commandment by Christ is sinned against when differences, ill will, carnal strife and under currents of old unforgiven grudges are tolerat ed among God’s professed children. “Offer thy gift.” Your body is a liv ing sacrifice, your very all yielded to Christ.— The Sunday School Worker. 11. God's Word “The grass • withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever” (Jsa. 40:8). Where the Bible is best loved, most carefully studied, and devoutly obeyed is the best place to live... The Bible stored in the mind and in the heart carries assurance to each soul that God is saying, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” It is balm for the healing of the broken heart. It is such a revelation of love that it casts out all fear. Its sacred promises become the soul’s richest possession. —The Watchman Examiner. 12. Our Divine Attorney “For there is . .. one ipediator be tween >God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Tim. 2:5). The Lord Jesus is now the Man in Glory, crowned with glory and honor. As such, He is occupied in a present work... For His own, He is the High Priest at the right hand of God, mak ing intercession for us. He is also the Advocate with the Father. The divine standard is, “that we sin not.” But the moment the believer sins on earth, the Lord Jesus acts as the Advocate above for us before the Father. What a blessed work it is that He is now doing in the heavens! —John B. Houser. 13. Christ, the Bread “ Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down” (John 6:11). The loaves are a picture of the Lord Himself in the hands of the Father. He was absolutely surrendered to the Father’s will. And the' Father took Him and broke Him, just as Jesus broke the loaves. Jesus gave the brok en bread to the disciples, and they distributed it to the fainting multi tude. Likewise, it was necessary for Him to be broken on the cross in order to be made available for all men.. And as the twelve carried the bread among the people, so it is Our business to proclaim a crucified, but risen Saviour unto all the world.—W. S. Hottell.

8. Home “For-1 know him, that he will com mand . . . his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord” (Gen. 18:19). God’s mercy spread, the shelter ing roof; Let faith »make firm the floor. May friend and stranger, all who come, Find love within the door. May peace enfold each sleeping- place, And health surround the board; From all the lamps that light the halls Be radiant joy outpoured. Let kindness keep the hearth aglow, And through the windows shine; Be Christlike living, on the walls The pattern and design. —T. L. Paine. Qualifications for Service “Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably" (Heb. 12:28). The greatest of all qualifications is a holy life w h i c h is crystal-clear and pure in the eyes of God and your fellow man. Thus will the power of your *service be determined. There must be no compromise. Do you lower your testimony to your environment or do you raise your environment to your testimony?’—Aletta N. Jacobsz. 9.

ready to give up all to Him, and re ceive all from Him. Bow down in lowly worship, and wait for the Holy Spirit to work some measure of the mind of Christ in you. Do not be dis concerted if you do not learn the les son at once; there is the God of love waiting to do everything in him who is willing.—Andrew Murray. Obedience ‘‘If ye will obey my voice. . . , and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people” (Ex. 19:5). No father can train his children un less they are obedient. No teacher can teach a child -who continued to dis obey him. Pray God to imprint this lesson on your heart: the life of faith is a life of obedience. As Christ lived in obedience to the Father, so we, too, need obedience for a life in the love of God.—Andrew Murray. Beware of Anxiety , “It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sor rows” (Psa. 127:2). “Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee” *(Psa. 55:22). What does your anxiety do? It does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow; but ah! it empties today of its strength. It does not make you escape the evil; it makes you unfit' to cope with it when it comes; it does not bless to morrow, but it robs today. God gives us power to bear all the sorrow of His making; but He does not give us the power to bear the sorrows of our own making which the anticipation Of sorrow most assuredly is. —Ian Maclaren. 6. 7.
