First edition, first issue binding, with gilt lettering and decora - tion to the upper board and the illustrator’s name misspelled “Rowntree”. Original dark green cloth with lettering in gilt and borders and decoration outlined in gilt. Top edge gilt and others untrimmed. Sixty-four full page plates by Harry Rountree. The illustrations are a mixture of watercolours and black and white images. A very good copy indeed, slightly cocked, with perforat- ed ‘Presentation Copy’ stamped on title page. [45914] £850 Peter Alliss and Barry Took, introducing the a new edition of the book in 1989, wrote “this book, first published in 1910, was the first compre- hensive hole-by-hole description of a wide selection of golf courses in Great Britain and Ireland, many of which, matured and revered today, were then just emerging from their native marsh and scrub.”
