GROWTH BEYOND NUMBERS What 2025 Taught Me About Gratitude, Growth, and Giving Back

As 2025 comes to a close, I feel incredibly grateful for the people who have been part of the journey this past year. The holidays always seem to invite reflection, and this season, I have been thinking about what “growth” means. For our firm here in Atlanta, it has never been just about numbers or cases; it has always been about relationships, community, and the kind of progress that happens both professionally and personally. When I reflect on the past year, the first thing that comes to mind is our clients. Every case we take on is personal, not just because of the challenges each client faces, but because of the trust they place in us during some of the most challenging times of their lives. Our client base has grown this year, but it’s more than that. I’ve always believed that a personal injury case doesn’t just end when the paperwork does. Many of our former clients still keep in touch; they’ll send a card, or we’ll send one of ours, sometimes accompanied by one of our Christmas ornaments, which has become a small tradition at our firm. Our work isn’t just about resolving cases; it’s about helping people heal and move forward, and staying part of their stories even after the legal chapter closes. Of course, none of what we do would be possible without the incredible people on our team. We’ve welcomed new faces this year, bright, compassionate professionals who share the same dedication to serving others that has always been at the heart of this firm. Watching our team grow has been one of my favorite parts of the year. Every person who walks through

our doors brings something new, along with a shared commitment to doing what’s right for our clients and community. We may be growing in size, but more importantly, we’re growing in strength and purpose. That same sense of growth extends beyond the walls of our office. One of the most meaningful parts of 2025 has been how we’ve connected with the community here in Atlanta. Whether volunteering with Hope Atlanta, the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy, or visiting the Martin

Luther King Jr. House, every experience has been a reminder of why community engagement matters. Giving back helps us remember why we do what we do in the first place: to make a difference, however small, in the lives of those around us. On a personal level, I’ve also been fortunate to experience professional growth this year. Continuing my service with the State Bar of Georgia’s Board of Governors and as secretary for the Atlanta Bar Association has been both an honor and a privilege. I’ve also joined the Education Committee at the Lawyers Club of Atlanta. These roles remind me that growth isn’t about climbing a ladder; it’s about finding ways to contribute, learn, and help others do the same. As we head into 2026, I’m feeling hopeful. I know there will be challenges, there always are, but there’s also so much potential. My hope for the new year is that we continue to grow, not just as a firm, but as individuals who care deeply about the people we serve and the community we’re proud to call home. From all of us here, I want to wish you and your loved ones a wonderful holiday season filled with peace, joy, and gratitude. Thank you for

being part of our story, and here’s to another year of growth, purpose, and connection.

Traditions That Won’t Cost a Fortune FESTIVE FUN MADE EASY The holidays have a way of sneaking up on us. Suddenly, the calendar is full, stores are packed, and wallets feel too light. But here’s the truth: The most memorable moments don’t come from expensive gifts or elaborate trips. We spark them from laughter, creativity, and time spent together.

Once a Bulldog, Always a Bulldog KEVIN RETURNS TO HIS ROOTS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA Some opportunities just feel right, like coming home after a long journey. For our attorney, Kevin Patrick, being invited to serve on the Jere W. Morehead Honors College Advisory Board at his alma mater, the University of Georgia, was exactly that kind of moment. A proud UGA graduate and lifelong Bulldog fan, Kevin remembers his days in the Honors Program as if they were yesterday: long study sessions, late- night conversations that shaped big dreams, and mentors who believed in his potential. Now, two decades later, he’s returning to Athens, not as a student, but as a mentor and advocate for the next generation. “It doesn’t seem that long ago that I was walking those same halls,” he shared with a smile. “To now have the chance to return in this way, to give back, to mentor, to help support new students, it’s an incredible honor.” The Advisory Board supports student engagement, community partnerships, and fundraising initiatives that keep the Honors College thriving. Members help create meaningful opportunities for students, from scholarships and leadership programs to research experiences that open doors to future success. For Kevin, who’s spent his career helping others navigate challenges with compassion and purpose, giving back to the school that helped shape his values feels like the perfect fit. “It’s a little surreal,” he admitted. “You go from being the student who’s learning from everyone else to being someone who can now offer a bit of guidance and perspective. It’s a full- circle moment and one I’m deeply thankful for.” He’s also looking forward to walking through campus again and seeing what’s changed, what’s stayed the same, and maybe even grabbing a bite at a familiar Athens favorite. “It’ll be fun to go back,” he laughed. “Hopefully, I’m not too far removed from those student days!”

Whether you’re looking for cozy nights in or adventures out in the crisp winter air, here are fun, low-cost holiday activities for the whole family.

FESTIVE FUN AT HOME Let’s turn home into holiday central! You can wrap your front door like a giant present, or craft homemade ornaments from everyday supplies. Popcorn and cranberry garlands, paper chains with gratitude notes, and handmade snowflakes instantly transform your space into a festive wonderland. For extra coziness, plan a movie night complete with blankets, popcorn, and your family’s favorite holiday classics. CREATIVE CRAFTS AND TASTY TREATS You don’t need to buy pricey kits when you can create your own fun. Build a gingerbread house from scratch, or whip up batches of cookies and let everyone go wild with frosting and sprinkles. If you’re looking for something outdoorsy, make birdseed ornaments from pinecones and peanut butter, then watch the backyard come alive with feathered guests.

OUTDOOR ADVENTURES Bundle up and take a nighttime drive (or stroll) to admire the best light displays in your town. It’s a free way to soak up the magic of the season together. If you’re lucky enough to get snow, the options are endless: snowmen, forts, snow angels, or even a friendly snowball fight. And when it’s too chilly to stay outside, warm up with hot cocoa by the fire.

SHARE THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT The season feels even brighter when you spread joy beyond your own home. Go caroling in your neighborhood or at a local nursing home, attend a school holiday concert, or deliver handmade cards to friends and neighbors. These simple gestures leave lasting impressions and remind everyone what the holidays are truly about. COZY TRADITIONS THAT LAST For a touch of nostalgia, start a new tradition like sleeping under the Christmas tree one night, creating a DIY advent calendar, or hosting a family game night with holiday music playing in the background. These small rituals are the ones kids and adults both look forward to each year.

For Kevin, this new chapter is about connection, gratitude, and carrying the Bulldog spirit into the future.

Overthinking Overload? Try These Mind‑Clearing Tips

We’ve all been there: lying awake at night, replaying conversations, imagining worst-case scenarios, or obsessing over things we can’t change. Overthinking might feel harmless, but when those thoughts keep circling, they can take a toll on your mood, energy, and overall well-being. So, how do you break the cycle? It starts with noticing what’s happening in your mind. Next time your thoughts go into overdrive, pause and ask yourself: What emotion is fueling this? Maybe it’s worry, guilt, or frustration. Recognizing the source is the first step toward loosening its grip. TURN DOWN THE MENTAL VOLUME. When your brain feels stuck on repeat, try redirecting your energy. Dive into a hobby, work out, learn a new recipe, or volunteer for a cause that matters to you. Shifting focus gives your mind a break and can help you feel more grounded. Breathing exercises also work wonders. Place one hand on your heart, one on your belly, and take slow, steady breaths in and out through your nose. It’s simple, but it signals your body to relax and can help calm racing thoughts in just a few minutes. CHALLENGE YOUR THOUGHTS. Automatic negative thoughts (those instant, gloomy reactions) can trap you in “what ifs” and worst-case scenarios. Write them down, seek a more balanced perspective, and see if you can do anything about them. Taking small, thoughtful actions toward solutions can help quiet the mental noise.

HIT PAUSE WHEN YOUR BRAIN WON’T STOP TALKING WHEN ‘WHAT IF’ WON’T QUIT

And remember, you don’t have to figure it all out alone. Talking to a trusted friend or a therapist can give you a fresh outlook on managing those runaway thoughts.
