CERTIFICATION

Subject Matter Expert (SME) Spotlight: KEVIN O'BRIEN

Q: What value do you see in the credentialing exam development process? Q: What is the greatest benefit you have found while volunteering? A: Keeping the exams updated to current standards is critical to ensuring that the BICSI ICT Certification Institute remains the premier credentialing organization for our entire industry, from design to ICT project management and installation to testing. A: I learned long ago that teaching others is one of the best ways to learn, and exam development is no different. So in addition to contributing to our field as a volunteer, my own understanding of the subject matter grew deeper during the exam development effort.

Q: What would you say to someone who was considering volunteering for exam development activities? A: Contributing to BICSI exam development is a very satisfying experience. Working with other ICT professionals with varying backgrounds and expertise to develop exam content is an opportunity to take a deeper dive into ICT topics than one might encounter on the jobsite. And knowing that you've helped develop an exam for future BICSI credential holders is a great feeling. I look forward to participating again.
