AARP Driver Safety Course Hills Bank in Marion (3204 7th Ave) Wednesday, September 12, 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
This four-hour driver safety class teaches defensive driving with no driving or testing involved. Life changes that can affect driving abilities, including medications, brain and body health, new vehicle technologies, and new laws, will be examined during the course. Potential driving problems will be assessed, as well as tips to staying safe and maintaining driving independence. Attendees will receive a certificate of completion (some insurance companies may offer discounts on auto insurance premiums as a result). Cost is $20 for materials but discounted to $15 for AARP members. Checks payable to AARP will be collected upon arrival to class. Dennis Naughton first took up ventriloquism at age 11 and developed skills that enabled him to work his way through college and law school by performing on the circuit of state and county fairs. His act won the Iowa State Fair Talent Search in 1967, and Denny and Friends have appeared with Grand Ole Opry stars and nationally known acts from coast to coast, throughout the Midwest, and overseas. He recently took up performing again and celebrated his 50th Anniversary last year of winning the state fair talent show. Hills Bank Friends Club has invited him to share his talents with us. Paint, drink, repeat! It’s all about social art and fun with friends. An instructor will provide step-by-step instructions for making your very own unique art work. Even if you have never painted, you’ll leave the party with your very own masterpiece. Follow the steps or do your own thing—you can't do it wrong. The design will be “Fall Reflection,” which is a design with fall-colored trees reflected in the water on a 16x20” canvas. Hors d’oeuvres and wine will be provided.
