mori, those distributing tracts on the street almost never findanyone who has not already heard the gos pel through Hatori’s ‘Light of the World’ broadcast. Even Buddhist priests are studying his Bible cor respondence courses as a result of radio contact.” In America the Nisei revival kept on having repercussions. By 1953 JEM was publishing a small, maga zine-size' newspaper ca l l ed the JEMS Journal to share inspiration, news and prayer needs of Nisei churches and workers. Hideo and Doris Aoki had begun a radio min istry in San Jose, Calif. More and more Nisei were gathering each summer at Mt. Hermon for spirit ual recharging. Today the confer ence is one of Mt. Hermon’s larg est. In 1954 the Journal reported a great spiritual awakening among Nisei churches. It noted maturity in church leadership, the growth of Christian brotherhood and self-sac rifice among ministers and laymen. A pastor in San Lorenzo, Calif, re ported that his church had respond ed wholeheartedly to an unexpected challenge for missionary offerings taken to help support a worker in Japan. Similar reports were record ed from happy pastors in Canada, Hawaii and even Brazil. “ I have found the hand of God upon these people in a most unu sual way,” says Dr. Robert Boyd Munger, a pastor in Berkeley, Calif. “ So far as I know there is no fellow ship like it on the West Coast. Young people and pastors from Free Methodists to Episcopalians meet together in the bond of Jesus Christ.” JEMS is growing in numbers, financial strength and in spiritual brotherhood. Th e o r g a n i z a t i o n shows promise of becoming a bea con to spirtually-confused churches at large. It could very well spark a new dynamic in world-wide mis sionary enterprise. “ Our is a deeply-rooted fellow ship in Christ,” Dr. Masumi Toyo- tome once said. “We need each other and know it. We miss each other and say so. It is our prayer that through the instrumentality of the JEMS our Japanese churches will experience a new anointing of the Holy Spirit to meet the need of the Nisei.” END.
