great measure, be given to the one who is to rule in the revived Roman Empire.”

Prayer O hide this self from me, that I N o more, but Christ in me, may live; My vile affections crucify, Nor let one darling lust survive! In all things nothing may I see, Nothing desire or seek, but thee.

in the prophetic Scriptures, is the land in which God has most con cern, the land promised to Israel. And it seems that it shall be the policy of this world-ruler to divide the land for the best price that can be obtained. The land shall be de sired by many. It is desired by many today. And the recipient shall be the one who can pay the most; for money, much money, will be required to maintain world government. 8) His power will be only for a short time. The success and pros perity of this mighty earth-ruler are to be of very brief duration. He is to prosper only till the “ indigna tion be accomplished” and that “ that is determined shall be done.” Like a mighty rocket which soars high, lighting the whole country side, only to fall in a few seconds, shall the career of this one be. The period of his prosperity will cover only “ the seventieth week of Dan iel,” a period of seven years, with emphasis on the latter half of that period. We do thank God for this, for the Word of God says that this tribulation shall be “ . . . such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved” (Matt. 24:21, 22). Therefore, terrible as this time will be, it will be shortened by the mercy of God. 9) He will make a covenant with Israel. One of the acts of the antichrist, at which the world will wonder, will be his seeming to solve the Jewish problem. At first he will get along exceedingly well with Israel and will make a cove nant with them. Under the terms of this covenant he will allow the return of many of the world’s Jews to their national homeland. Having returned, they will desire of him that they may set up a new temple

where their ancient worship of Je hovah will be revived. Because of his sub t l e t y , he will apparently agree with them and allow them to rebuild their temple. This the Jews will do joyfully; and many of then- orthodox number will set up again, as best they can, the Mosaic system of the worship of Jehovah. 10) He will break his covenant with Israel. After about 3*4 years of the seven-year period of his rule, the antichrist will suddenly cause the temple oblations and sacrifices to cease. He will break his covenant with the Jews; and in place of the worship of Jehovah in the temple at Jerusalem, he will set up a sys tem of worship whereby the Jews, as well as the rest of the world, will worship him and him only, or be put to death by him. In Matthew 24:15 this act on the part of the antichrist is called “ the abomina tion of desolation.” It will be the desecration of the Holy of Holies in the Jewish temple at Jerusalem and the inauguration of a world-wide system of pagan emperor-worship. This act is also referred to in 2 Thessalonians 2:4 in which this “man of sin” is described as sitting “ in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is god.” Nor is this to be a hollow-sounding attempt, for from verse 9 of this same chap ter we learn that these words and acts are to be accompanied with “power and signs and lying won ders.” I know there are many today who profess utterly to disbelieve in miracles. I want to tell you, the unbeliever who is under the domi nation of “ the man of sin” will be lieve in miracles in that day. And those who reject Christ and His miracles, will some day accept the antichrist and his miracles, which are to be wrought by Satanic power. Beware, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and be safe. END.

Psalm 1 3 1 Quiet, Lord, my froward heart; Make me teachable and mild, Upright, simple, free from art; Make me simple as a weaned child; From distrust and envy free, Pleased with all that pleases Thee. What thou shalt today provide, Let me as a child receive; What tomorrow may betide, Calmly to thy wisdom leave; Tis enough that Thou wilt care, Why should I the burden bear ? As a little child relies On a care beyond his own, Knows he’s neither strong nor wise, Fears to stir a step alone;— , Let me thus with Thee abide, As my Father, Guard, and Guide.

— John Newton

ould you be young again? Would you be young again ? So would not I;— One tear to memory given, Onward I’ll hie;— Life’s dark wave forced o ’er, All but at rest on shore, Say, would you plunge once more, With home so nigh?

If you might, would you now Retrace your way? Wander through stormy wilds, Faint and astray? Night’s gloomy watches fled, Morning all beaming red, Hope’s smiles around us shed, Heavenward, away! Where are those dear ones, Our joy and delight, Dear and more dear, though now Hidden from sight?

Where they rejoice to be, There is the home for me; Fly, time, fly speedily, Come, life and light!
