much of the lead in stained glass windows oxidises and needs replacing, Victor explains a state now being reached by many windows in the city. John Piper was regarded as a brilliant designer and The Tree and The River of Life , which feature unpainted scarlet and azure glass (composing the
river and the tree) set against turquoise and purple glass in the outer portions, is one of the most valuable windows in the Chapel. Chaplain Rev. Bosco Peters says he is “absolutely thrilled to see the windows back” and able to be viewed in the way they were intended.
“It is wonderful to have benefitted from the generosity of people who gave to the Annual Appeal 2017, which has enabled us to do this important repair work.” In addition, work is ongoing installing special glass protectors on the Chapel windows to preserve them for the future.
