enemies of the Christian Faith, gives added confirmation to the truth of the doctrine of the resurrection of Christ. Had these enemies of the cause of Christ the evidence to disprove the resurrection, then, surely, all the world would have heard of it. Instead, the fact of the resurrection became the satisfying proof. It was the re-assuring proof for the one who doubted. Thomas said, “ Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. After eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them; then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side; and be not faithless (unbelieving), but believ ing. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God” (John 20:25-28). The resurection of our Lord was the certified fact which attested the trustworthiness of the Scriptures. “ Ac cording to the Scriptures,” is its certification, as the Apostle Paul affirmed, “ For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures” (1 Cor. 15:1-4).
Resurrection Assurances The resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord is the blessed assurance in the sum total of redemption, in which God is satisfied and glorified. “ He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us” (Romans 8:32-34). Further, it is on the ground of the resurrection of Christ, that the believer stands justified before God, “Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification” (Romans 4:25). This precious truth also affirms the believer shall for ever live, since our Lord and Saviour gave the assurance, “ because I live, ye shall live also” (John 14:19). Resurrection Power for Resurrection Living “ That I may know him, and the power of his resurrec tion . . . the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the (heavenlies) heavenly places . . . that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body” (Phil. 3:10; Eph. 1:19, 20; 2 Cor. 4:10).
