will be only two classes — the obedient, with His seal on their foreheads, who will meet Him with joy; and the disobedient, with the mark of the beast upon them, who will meet Him with “wailing and gnashing of teeth.” In which class will you be? Remember that the mark you decide to receive will determine in which class you will be found in that day. W ill you obey God’s law in keeping the seventh day, and thus receive the sign of loyalty to the Creator; or will you yield obedience to that apostate power by keeping a man-made substitute for God’s true Sab bath, and thus receive the mark of apostasy? ONLY ADVENTISTS GO TO HEAVEN Mr. H. A. Gober, a Seventh-day Adventist, in his trea tise on “ The Seal of God and Mark of the Beast” says: In the closing hours of this world’s history, the world will be divided into two classes; viz, those who “ keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus” (Rev. 14:12), and receive the seal of the living God, and those who worship the beast, his image, and receive his mark. As to the seal of God, he says: In receiving and obeying this Sabbath command ment we receive the seal of the living God. The whole world will be divided into two great classes, those who obey God KEEPING THE TRUE SAB BATH of God’s law and those who observe the false Sabbath (Sunday) (capitals ours). Mr. Gober then quotes for his authority from Ellen G. White as follows: While one class by accepting the sign of submis sion to earthly powers receives the mark of the beast, the other choosing the token of allegiance to divine authority receives the seal of God. ^ (The Great Controversy, p. 605, par. 2). Here then is the clear, unmistakable statement that salvation is determined on the basis of keeping the Seventh-day sabbath all their vigorous denials notwith standing. This leaves only the Adventists who will go to heaven. 4 . 4. They teach that Jesus came back in 1844, but instead of coming to earth as they had prophesied, He went into the sanctuary “ to cleanse the sanctuary” and to carry on an “ investigative judgment” of all men’s works. There fore, no one can be sure of heaven until he reaches the end, and all his deeds have been investigated and weighed. This teaching denies the finished work of Christ. Concerning this investigative judgment which was sup posed to begin in 1844, we read in their publication, “ Thoughts on Daniel” — This work involves an examination of every man’s character . . . who among the dead shall be resur rected at the coming the Lord and who both of the dead and the living shall be left to have their part in the scenes of the second death. Every man’s DESTINY is to be determined by the deeds done in the body (capitals ours). This is the teaching of Seventh-day Adventism. DO YOU believe that? Certainly if we do, then we cannot believe Romans 3:20; 3:28; 4:5; 8:3; Galatians 2:16; 3:10; and Ephesians 2:8, 9. Associated closely with this terrible error of an “ unfin ished” work of Christ is their teaching of a “ continual sacrifice of Christ.” A few quotations by the S.D.A.’s will suffice to show the abominable doctrine of an incomplete
alone is able to make us wise unto salvation, WE AS A DENOMINATION ACCEPT THEM AS IN SPIRED COUNSELS FROM THE LORD (capitals ours). On page 96 this is added: They (Mrs. White’s writings) have been for a hun dred years, to use her own expression, “ a lesser light” leading sincere men and women to “the greater light.” We hardly need to say more beyond these statements from the S.D.A.’s themselves. According to this, one needs the inspired writings of Mrs. White (the lesser light) to lead us to the Greater Light. 2 . 2. The Seventh-day Adventists teach that they are the remnant church of the 144,000 in Revelation 7 and 14, and all others who do not keep their sabbath belong to Babylon, ultimately to be destroyed. We quote now from No. 27 in “ Know Your Bible” series, published by the Pacific Press Publishing Associ ation of the S.D.A.’s. On page 5 we read: Moreover also I gave them My Sabbaths, to be a sign between Me and them, that they might know that I am the Lord that sanctify them (Ezekiel 20: 12). Thus we have God’s own confirmation of the place and force of the seventh-day Sabbath as the seal, the confirming instrument, the authenticating means of His people’s sanctification. 3 . 3. They further teach that the keeping of the seventh day sabbath will be the Seal of the living God, while the Sunday-keepers will have the mark of the beast. Salvation, therefore, will depend upon keeping the sabbath. Again we quote from pamphlet No. 27 of “ Know Your Bible” series. On page 3 we read: What is this “ seal of the living God” that in earth’s final days will seal, certify, guarantee the true disci ples of Jesus unto redemption? And here is the answer on page 7: Our attitude toward Sabbathkeeping indicates whether we are true worshipers of God or followers of the beast. God. says, “The seventh day is the Sab bath,” and commands its observance. The worldly church says: “ Keep holy the first day of the week.” This brings every soul face to face with the real issue. Whom will you obey? Whose servant will you be? W ill you follow Christ in the keeping of the true Sabbath, or will you follow antichrist in the keeping of the counterfeit Sabbath? According to our choice, we will receive the seal of God or the mark of the beast. The Sabbath question is the last great test by which men will decide their eternal destiny. It will divide the world into two classes — the obedient and the disobedient. Every soul must choose to receive either the seal of God or the mark of the beast. There will be eventually no neutral ground. What is the mark of the beast? By parity of reason ing, if God’s seal is the true seventh-day Sabbath of the fourth commandment, Satan’s mark, in harmony with its competitive nature, must be a false or rival sabbath, another day set forth and observed as the Christian’s rest instead of the day instituted in the Holy Scriptures of truth.
