Sandra’s Great Desire

A l e t t e r was recently received at the Bible Institute written by Sandra Kaufman, of Omo Ranch, California. In her letter Sandra says: “ I am thirteen. If the Lord should tarry until I am old enough I would like to be in the Lord’s work. There are a lot of children and young people up here without the wonderful Lord Jesus as their personal Saviour. We plan to have a Bible Club up here.” And at the close of her letter Sandra quoted a Bible verse that begins with “ all” and ends with “ all.” Do you know that verse and where to find it? This is a fine letter which Sandra has written. We are sure that she is a Christian and has received the Lord Jesus as her own Saviour according to John 1:12. She has a heart of love for her wonderful Lord and Saviour. She has also a heart of love for those who do not know Him and she longs to tell them about Him. We are so glad that she is looking forward to a life of service for the Lord. After she finishes her high school training, she will need further preparation for service in the Lord’s vineyard. And until then we pray that she will continue to live for Him and serve Him just where she is now! Let us hear from other boys and girls. Tell us what you are doing now and what you want to do when older.

LET’S HAVE A HARVEST FESTIVAL

have a part, perhaps leading a family devotional at the close of the evening of happy fellowship. The climax of the evening’s pro gram will no doubt be reached when the offerings and tithes are presented to the Lord for the missionary work of the church. This offering should emphasize family giving, where each one in the family has a part. Thus children are trained from their earliest years to give to the Lord’s work. All through the year, the family has planned and prayed and worked to gether at various projects, even sacri ficing, that a gift of love might be placed in the nail-scarred hands of the Lord. And may this offering be one that is given “not grudgingly, or of necessity; for God loveth a cheerful giver” (2 Cor. 9:7). As to the maner in which the of fering is presented: this detail can be worked out by a committee or by each family. It could be placed in individual bags made of various kinds of materials, or in uniform containers, or in envelopes, or in some unique or novel way. But all of the details will work out as the main purpose of the Harvest Festival is maintained and every plan made with prayer. Then the Lord will be glorified, His name exalted, and His service sanctified. Answers to Bible Trees 1. Sycamore — Luke 19:4 2. Oak — II Samuel 18:9,10 3. Palm and Cedar — Psalm 92:12 4. h y n o t have a Harvest Festival in the church and Sunday school at some time in October, emphasizing the theme of the Mission Fields of the World, “ white already to harvest.” The church basement or wherever the Harvest Festival is held should be beautifully decorated in the fall colors of brown and gold. Pumpkins, cornstalks, fall fruits, and vegetables of all kinds will help to emphasize the harvest theme. Maps of the var ious countries of the world, showing the needy mission fields should be put at various places on the walls to tie the “natural” and the “ spiritual” together. Make this a family gathering! Urge the entire family to attend, from the youngest to the oldest, and to sit together at the table, each family to a table, for of course a dinner will be served. The size of each table will depend upon the size of the family to sit at each table. All of this in formation will be taken care of by a committee and a table number given to each family. As for the dinner, a special church dinner could be served or each family could be responsible for the dinner at its table, perhaps pot-luck style. The main thing is fellowship together about the dinner table as a family. As for the program, many sugges tions might be offered. The young people could have charge of the music and they may want to present a mis sionary scene of some kind. Mission ary recruits could give their testi monies, standing by the map of the country where they plan to go as missionaries. A dedication service for an outgoing missionary would be most appropriate. Missionaries home on furlough should have an oppor tunity of giving a testimony. A film emphasizing family worship might be shown. And, of course, the pastor will
