know there are people who pretend to be Christians who really are not. They sing the hymns and choruses and can even recite many scripture verses, but they have never really taken the Lord Jesus as their own Saviour (John 1:12 and I John 5:12). When the “mask” is lifted, they are not really Christians who have God’s peace and joy in their hearts and who know that their sins have all been taken away. Then there are some folks who act very nice on Sunday when they are at church and Sunday school, but in their own homes, they are very un kind and inconsiderate to their parents and loved ones. What kind of a mask are you wear ing, boys and girls and young people? Nothing is hidden from the Lord. He knows our hearts. “Man looketh at the outward appearance but God God looketh at the heart.” (I Samuel 15:7). He wants us to be genuine in our Christian lives. He wants our lives and actions to measure up to the profession we make with our lips. “ I therefore . . . beseech you that ye walk worthy.” Suggested by a Biola Evening School Student.

OTHER SIDE OF ROME by John B. W ilder

"BEH IND THE MASK" Scripture: Ephesians 4:1, “ I there fore . . . beseech you that ye walk worthy.” Objects needed: A mask such as is sold in the stores at Halloween time. I h a v e with me today a mask. Let us look at it! Yes, it is a squirrel mask and was worn by a little girl on Halloween night when with a group of her little friends she knocked at a neighbor’s door and called out, “Trick or Treat.” Of course, wearing this mask did not make this little girl a squirrel. She just looked like a squirrel. She was really just pretending. And when she lifted the mask the sweet face of the little girl could be seen. Now this mask seems to have many important lessons for us in our Chris tian lives. So many people are wear ing masks; no, not Halloween masks but masks of a different kind. "My husband has suffered a stroke and became paralyzed. He is a living corpse. We have two wonderful little children, but we are now helpless immigrants in the land of Israel. In this time of great sorrow your gift arrived and brought tears to the eyes of my paralyzed husband. My dear children were so happy with the wonderful food you sent us, and now we know that the Lord has not forgotten us." It is such Hebrew Christians, new converts, missionaries, the unemployed, the bewildered and the hungry whom we must shepherd and sustain. Please send your gift to help our ministry amongst the poor and bereft, the young in our Chil dren's Home, the aged Hebrew Christians and the babes in Christ.
