Remember you’re starting with a blank canvas “Often, I picture myself as an artist and painter,” Jen explains. “Every single day we have a blank canvas. We paint with the same seven brushes and the same seven colors – the Seven Critical Activities – but the painting always turns out different. My team tries new things to give our activities a new flavor. I talk to different people and have different conversations every day. I remember that I’m always just one conversation away from completely changing someone’s life.” Have an accountability partner “An accountability partner will help you snap yourself out of the mundane,” Jen says. “My team is great at that. We’re always giving each other shout-outs, celebrating each other, nudging each other along, and challenging each other.” Stay active “I recently found a quote from Dale Carnegie that really resonated with me,” Jen says. “He said, ‘Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, don’t sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.’ With your Melaleuca business, if you want to keep it fresh, you’ve got to stay in action – that will automatically move your business to a positive place.” Choose to love what you do “I’ve played basketball my whole life,” Jen says. “And I’ve always thought, ‘If you don’t love the sound of sneakers squeaking on the gym floor, shooting free throws over and over, and sweating and falling down, you won’t love the game.’ Whether it’s sports or Melaleuca, you have to love what you’re doing. That’s the key to success. Successful builders love Melaleuca leadership, love our products, and love when they get to share those things with others. So I always ask, ‘Do you love what you do?’ And if you don’t, good luck.” How will You embrace the monotony? Are you ready for the blank canvas before you each day? Are you committed to consistency? Are you choosing to enjoy the mundane? It doesn’t matter how you start to better embrace the monotony – each step forward will help you accomplish more than you’ve ever dreamed.

National Director 5 Jen Sebbas recognizes how repeating the same activity day in and day out can seem boring if you aren’t in the right mindset – so she takes advantage of the flexibility of her business to keep herself engaged! Here’s her advice for keeping the Seven Critical Business-Building Activities fresh every day. Choose a Joy-filled mindset “We all go through these phases where we would rather sit and watch paint dry than do the same thing we’ve been doing every day,” Jen says. “But those are few and far between for me. It’s all about making the decision to change your mindset. Either you can enjoy showing up to do the Seven Critical Business-Building Activities or you can resent them. It’s up to you.” Change up your location “I love that I get to pepper my work around my life,” Jen says. “I schedule everything so it all gets done, but I don’t have to stay in one place. Even though I’m doing the same activities every day, I try to change my scenery. Just the other day I was sitting by the pool. Sometimes I’m in my office. Other days I’m sitting on the couch in my living room. Sometimes I go to my best friend’s house to work with her. This is a mobile business. Take advantage of it!”
“After that, you get to vicariously live the experience of a brand-new Melaleuca enrolee through a new Member’s eyes – helping them find success and changing their life. When you’re excited about finding someone new, building this business is not monotonous.” Reinvent your Why “Don’t forget to reinvent your own why ,” Mark adds. “The things that once motivated you to advance to a certain status will not always be motivating. You need to reevaluate your emotional anchor – what is going to drive you to meet your next goal? Myrna and I have done this multiple times over the years.” Look at the big picture “When you look at those who seem to have reached the pinnacle of success in life – like athletes who compete in the Olympics – do you think they looked at training as monotonous ?” Mark asks. “Or did they look at training as necessary for reaching their ultimate goal? You have to stay focused on the big picture as your motivation. Without that, the short-term frustrations and monotony will really get to you. I ask my team to keep these questions in mind: Who are you helping? What difference can you make for your own family and for others?”
