ing of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, Peter was different. He became like this compass. You will notice that the compass does not change, no matter how hard I blow against it. It points constantly to the region of the North Star. After Pentecost, Peter steadily pointed to Christ. Today Christ is not pleased with His followers when they are blown by every wind of the world. Christ wants us to point to Him, just as this compass points toward the North Star. By which are you controlled this morning, the winds of the world, or Christ, “The bright and morning star” ? Are you a compass or a wind mill? Insert this side and flap in the uncut envelope with the gummed portion in the nor mal position for sealing the envelope. This will make a partition in the en velope. Put one of the Roman num erals between the insert and the back.
they fit each other perfectly. They are ONE in Christ. When “U” and “ I” are ONE in Christ, the prayer of our Lord will be answered. From that time on, we as Christians should lose our individuality and show forth Christ. April 11, 1954 W rong W ith the W ind OBJECTS: A compass and a toy wind mill. OBJECTS: A capital “ I” and a capital “ U,” made of white paper. (The “U” is 11 inches wide and 814 inches high. The side and bottom bars are 1 inch wide and the comers at the base are square, rather than curved. Fold the right side in 1 inch from the out side, which will be just inside the upright bar. Fold, in again 214 inches farther — measuring from the outside folded edge — which will bring the upright bar to the center. Follow the same procedure with the left side. This should bring the two side bars to overlap at the center, giving the appearance of a capital “T ” upside down. Fold the stem of the “T ” toward you, 614 inches from the free ends of the original “U.” This will make a cross. The “I ” should be 1314 inches high, the stem 1 inch wide, and the top and bottom bars 4 inches wide and 1 inch high. Fold down 214 inches from the top. Make another fold 4 11/16 inches from the bottom. Thus the two bars
an alternate point of each cut section, bending it to the center, and fasten with a pin stuck through the points and the center into the end of a pencil.) LESSON: I brought two strange-look- ing things with me this morning. One is a compass which tells a traveler his directions. The other is a wind mill, which is blown by every wind which strikes it. The compass always points toward the region of the North Star. Unsaved people are very much like this windmill. They are changed by every wind. They are very sensitive to the winds of the world. The things that others are doing are the things they want to do, regardless of what God thinks. There was a time in the life of Peter when he was like this windmill. He warmed by the world’s fire, and found it easy to deny his Lord. In John 18:18 we read, “And the serv ants and officers stood there, who had made a fire of coals; for it was cold: and they warmed themselves’: and Peter stood with them, and warmed himself.” When Christ needed a friend, Peter was like a windmill, blown by the enemy’s wind. Peter became a true follower of Christ, and did not continue to be blown by every wind. After the com
will come together, making a cross. Unfold both letters before the lesson begins.) LESSON: Looking at this “ I” and “ U,” it is difficult to see how they could ever be one as Christ prayed, “Nei ther pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they may all be one” (John 17:20, 21). The “ I” is so tall and slim, and the “U” is short and fat, making it appear im possible that they should ever be one. The “U” and “ I” must be changed if they are ever to be one in Christ. (Fold them as previously described.) As I fold these letters you see that they both form a cross. As such 48
