This method statement relates to the collection of general waste, recyclables and inert materials contained in skips or compactors from customer premises using a commercial skip collection vehicle.

Emergency Action
See Site Emergency plans (displayed throughout Internal facilities) If at 3 rd party site – Refer to Site Rules Contact site manager/supervisor when safe to do so in the event of the following incidents: • Accident or injury • Environmental Incident (i.e. fuel spillage, hydraulic fluid spillage, fire) • Vehicle fire - Stop vehicle and evacuate upwind.

Personal Protective Equipment to be used (minimum requirement):
Safety Boots – EN345 Hi-Visibility Vest or Hi Visibility Work Wear Tops – EN471 Work trousers, Gloves – BSEN388 Hard hat
Where site rules dictate a higher standard of PPE, staff will be required to abide by these requirements.
Equipment Used
• 4 x 2 Skip Vehicle - used exclusively for the transportation of skips and compactor containing materials such as general waste, hardcore or spoils. • Vehicle operate with a Gross vehicle weight (GVW) of between 12 and 18 tonne. • Skips of various sizes and specification made from steel (Open, Enclosed or compactors).
