• If any change in the vehicle stability is noted whilst loading then the skip must be lowered to the ground to assess the position. Repositioning may be necessary.
NOTE – No access is permitted to the rear of a loaded or operating vehicle .
On completion of being loaded. Cover the load with the sheeting system and secure the sheet with bungie to make the sheet taught and prevent waste escaping.
Complete the following vehicle/load checks for before leaving site.
The load is distributed evenly along and across the body and it is contained within the body not protruding/resting on/over the sides, or at risk of spilling. The rear lamps and reflective marker are clean and not damaged. There are no stones, bricks, etc. trapped between tyres that could become a hazard to other road users or pedestrians. The vehicle is swept completely clear of any debris. There is no warning lights illuminated or alarms sounding. All equipment is stowed correctly, safely, and securely for transport. Tailgate is secure Tyres are inflated correctly and in a legal and roadworthy condition with no items trapped between the rear drive tyres that could become loose in transit.
4. Unloading
• Position the vehicle in line with area to be unloaded. • Turn on the vehicle hazard warning lights and flashing beacons • Position pads on the ground and lower stabilising legs. Adjust legs and pads as necessary to level the vehicle. • Check area prior to operation. No person should be on/in contact with the vehicle or in the immediate area during operation • Extend arms over the skip • Take the tension on the chains so all four are under tension. • Check connection security of all four chains • Lift up/out away from the back of the vehicle into position. • Disconnect chains and secure • Retract stabilising legs and stow pads securely.
5. Tipping
Prior to tipping, the sheeting system should be retracted fully. Any manual nets fitted should be removed with the container on ground level. No access is permitted to vehicle body whilst loaded, meaning skip will need removing from vehicle body to uncover load. Similarly, sealed skips need removing from the vehicle body to open and secure doors. Stabilising legs must be used for this
