Document Reference: OP 202 Method Statement Rollon – Rolloff Vehicle Activities
• The vehicle must be positioned as close to the Roro bin to be loaded as reasonably practical and not at an angle, to avoid potential instability. • Full PPE must be worn at all times when on site out of the vehicle or operating equipment. This must include Hi Viz top, work trousers, Hard hat, gloves, and safety glasses. Boots must give toe and insole protection, give ankle support, and be securely fastened. • Prior to loading driver must ensure the load area is clear, and the general condition and security of roro bin must also be observed. The load should be within the confines of the roro bin and the bin should have no holes allowing any load to be lost. • Always check the door is secured closed before loading or off-loading. • Vehicles should not be within 2 metres of any exposed edge or excavation. • Sheeting systems only to be operated once overhead area is checked for obstructions and vehicle is stationary. • No manual sheeting of open bins is permitted.
Note: The site representative and transport office must be informed of any concerns regarding potential damage or risk to public or personal safety before starting work.
Loading
Safe working limits of the vehicle must be adhered to at all times. In the event of an alarm sounding or warning light illuminating then stop work, assess why, and comply accordingly.
• All loads must be sheeted and secured with the onboard sheeting system or manual sheet if a static compactor container. • If the weigh loader shows that the vehicle is overweight, then part of the load must be taken off or roro bin cannot be collected. Do not leave site knowing that the vehicle is overweight or will become overweight whilst in transit. • No operation of loading or vehicle operation should take place within 5 meters of another vehicle or person in case of mechanical failure. 1. Position in line with the roro bin to be loaded. 2. Check area prior to operation. No person should be on/in contact with the vehicle or in the immediate area during operation. 3. Ensure the hook is properly engaged in the lifting eye of the Roro container. 4. Lift up/in onto the back of the vehicle. This needs to happen in a slow and controlled manner avoiding any damaged to property from dragging bin along the ground. 5. Once the roro bin is located in a centrally located position on the vehicle all hydraulic elements should be located to their home position and locks should be engaged to secure bin to vehicle. 6. If any change in vehicle stability is noted whist loading, the roro container must be lowered to the ground and assess position, repositioning may be necessary.
