2. With the handbrake applied and ignition off, exit the vehicle and open the container door. Do not walk past the rear of the container with the door open. Instead walk around the front of the vehicle. 3. Ensure the door is securely fastened in the open position before any discharging takes place. 4. Ensure no other vehicles or person is within the vehicles fall-over area (10-metre radius). If during course of tipping a person or vehicle enter the area the STOP. The the skip must be lowered, and operations cease until they vacate. 5. Beware of high winds when tipping in the open, especially when tipping on landfill and unmade ground. High winds could cause the vehicle to tip over in the tipping position. 6. Ensure the hook is properly engaged in the lifting eye, proceed to lift skip to discharge load. 7. It may be necessary to move forward a few metres to completely discharge load. 8. Once discharged, lower roro bin to body completely. Never drive with a fully or partially raised roro bin or arms. 9. Once the arms are lowered completely, clear the tipping area immediately and find a safe and suitable place to stop, turn the ignition off, put on the appropriate PPE and exit your vehicle before completing the following checks: • The Roro bin is completely empty and there are no contaminates left inside. • The arms and all other hydraulic parts are stored correctly for transport. • The rear lamps and reflective marker boards are clean and not damaged. • The doors on the container are closed fully and securely locked. • There are no stones, bricks, etc. trapped between tyres that could become a hazard to other road users or pedestrians. • The chassis and body of the truck are swept completely clear of any debris. • All warning lights are extinguished. WARNING: If any part of the vehicle touches an overhead cable - stay in the cab, call 999 and wait for the cable to be made safe by the emergency services and power network before moving – during this time warn others to stay well clear. If you need to get out of the vehicle, then jump well clear and run away from the vehicle - never touch the vehicle if you are in contact with the ground. Under the Health and Safety at Work Act, you are required to inform your Manager of any Health and Safety issues you may have that would affect or endanger yourself or others whilst carrying out your contracted duties.
