community events

SwingForeHope Golf Classic On September 13, attendees of Swing Fore Hope Golf Classic, Tournament and Auction enjoyed a fun-filled day of golf, BBQ, San Diego’s finest craft beer, live blues music and must-have auction items. The event took place at Twin Oaks Golf Course in San Marcos. Proceeds from this event benefitted our Children’s Bereavement Program which provides grief support, free of charge, to grieving children in our community. We are grateful to those who participated and to our generous sponsors, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Horizon Oxygen and Medical Equipment, Marsh & McLennan Agency, Wells Fargo Bank, Capital Growth, Inc., El Camino Memorial, Bank of America Private Bank, and National Electric Works.

LightUpaLife More than 300 community members came together on November 17 for Light Up a Life , a candle-lighting ceremony to celebrate the people whose lives have warmed their heart and whose memories illuminate their life. This event, hosted by The Elizabeth Hospice at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, blended inspirational messages, live music and a memorial ceremony to lift the hearts of those touched by loss, illness and sorrow. Every attendee had the opportunity to share the name of their loved one and light a candle in their honor.

AtHomebut NotAlone

In June, when health guidelines established during the COVID-19 pandemic required everyone to shelter in place, we offered At Home but Not Alone , a way for people in our community to feel supported. This virtual experience included messages, musical performances and meditative activities to calm the mind and body. Participants had the opportunity to honor the special people in their life, reflect on cherished memories and engage in activities to bring them hope and joy – all in the comfort of their home.
