It is estimated that a woman is raped every 30 seconds and murdered every three hours. That means approximately 120 women are raped each hour, and eight women are killed each day. With such high rates of GBVF, we are forced to be on the back foot in dealing with this scourge. More preventative measures are required if we are to reduce these rates. Technology can enable better accountability and improved service delivery by

those tasked with GBVF prevention and response.

Through End GBVF Collective, we have seen role players from government, civil society, academia, and other institutions, development partners, and the private sector rise and work together in combating the “first pandemic”. Traditional methods are not always effective but coupled with the power of rapidly advancing technology, the integration of tech-enabled solutions into the GBVF response is the future. The tech world has risen to the occasion by developing tech-based platforms that aim to serve the needs of victims. Once integrated with the existing criminal justice system and related services, these could indeed be game-changers. 78
