Northern Territory Minister Visit In March the Northern Territory Minister for Housing and Community, the Hon. Gerald McCarthy MLA, visited the Adelaide office after attending the National Housing and Homelessness meeting. Minister McCarthy toured the Light Square building, including the dental outreach clinic, before enjoying afternoon tea with staff and residents. He was particularly interested in innovative models and solutions to help address homelessness as the Northern Territory develops its homelessness strategy. operating Common Ground in Adelaide and Port Augusta over the past decade, we were very pleased to participate in the development of the first Social Impact Bond for Homelessness with the Hutt Street Centre, Social Ventures Australia and the South Australian Government. Aspire Adelaide was launched on 28 June 2017, after receiving overwhelming support from impact investors who were keen to subscribe to the bond and contribute to reducing homelessness in South Australia. The program is the first of its kind and will be a measurable demonstration of the value of intervening to end a person’s homelessness. Housing Choices will be a valuable partner in the delivery of the program through targeted allocations of housing for Aspire Adelaide clients. We will also continue to participate on the program’s governance committee in 2017-18.
