While we are undeniably proud of our achievements in Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia, there is further work to be done in other regions across Australia. For our advocacy within the housing sector to have real and sustained impact, we must have scale, which is sobering when you consider that social housing comprises only 3.5 per cent of the Australian housing market. Therefore, to achieve meaningful and ongoing improvement for people severely disadvantaged by the current state of the private housing market, we must deliver a greater number and range of affordable housing options, in more locations. Housing Choices is driven not only by the need to provide more social and affordable housing, but also the desire to deliver the best possible quality housing. We have continually achieved outstanding ratings in our Resident Satisfaction Surveys and our national group structure is designed to better harness the power of economies of scale, national partnership models, efficient utilisation of resources and deliver excellence in customer service. Opportunities also abound for large, well-governed community housing providers as both federal and state governments release innovative products that enable greater investment in the sector. This is part of the range of solutions that are now required to get the housing sector back on track and fairer for all Australians. From this vantage point, Housing Choices intends to expand its service footprint, confident that its national product can and will deliver better housing outcomes and stability for vulnerable Australians.
