EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) Surgical Education Research and Training (SERT) Institute is proud to present the third edition of the RNSH Research Activity Report 2023-2024. The report provides an overview of the research activity undertaken by clinicians within the Division of Surgery and Anaesthesia (DoSA) at RNSH over a two-year period. The inaugural research activity report published in 2021, showcased research authored by RNSH surgeons over three years from 2018-2020. Following recognition of this work, subsequent iterations incorporate research from all departments across the division from 2021-2024, including Anaesthesia, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), the Trauma Service, Allergy Clinic and Acute Pain Management. The RNSH Research Activity Report 2023-2024 is the third iteration in this series and continues to highlight the significant volume of research activity and peer-reviewed publications across the DoSA in 2023-2024.

In 2023-2024, a total of 614 manuscripts were published, averaging 307 publications per year.

We hope you enjoy reading this report as you explore the volume of research undertaken across the DoSA at RNSH.
