The spirit, however, is the God- breathed existence. Man died spiritually when he sinned. That is the reason why he has to be born again through ac cepting Jesus Christ as Saviour. At that point he is given a new spirit and becomes a new creation. As we go through Scripture we cannot help but be impressed in seeing the high value and esteem man is given by God. The fact of capital punish ment is just one example of this.
