you." Historically, the Spirit of God had been involved with God's people. We find that very clearly in the Old Testament. Haggai put it this way, "My spirit remaineth among you." The Spirit had been with them, working in, through and around them. The difference now was that He would be in them. What a tremendous promise that was! This event began the church age with the baptism of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. What a marvelous thing it is that Jesus Christ should bestow upon us the supernatural Helper to be with us eternally. PROMISE OF A SUPERNATURAL LIFE AND A SUPERNATURAL UNION Have we not all been interested to read of someone who has left a large estate to various friends or relatives? The amount of money some people have been given as a legacy is hard to fully imagine. Of course, one has to be born into the right family to make things worth while. But what are these com pared to the eternal inheritance we have in Christ (I Corinthians 2:9). Peter explains it as being incor ruptible, undefiled, and that fadeth not away. It is reserved for us in heaven. There no rust, moths or thieves can harm our inheritance. The second wonderful promise of Christ's legacy is that of a super natural life. The testimony of the Saviour is, "I will not leave you comfortless. I will come to you" (vs. 18). In this He personally guar antees His own presence. It is the language of a dying father. They are not to be left as orphans for He will come back. The return sig nifies the vast importance of the resurrection. His promise to come to those who love Him is in the
sense of the indewlling Holy Spirit. In writing to the Roman church Paul refers to Him as the Spirit of Christ. He is of the same essence as Christ Himself. Do you grasp the fact that is presented here in that Jesus Christ will return to in dwell His own? He explains even further, "Yet a little while and the world seeth me no more" (vs. 19). He was showing those without spiritual sight that He will become invisible. Christ testified, "Because I live, ye shall live also." This is why He wants to give us resurrection life—the res urrection life which Jesus promises to every one of His own. Resurrec tion life means life which Jesus promises to every one of His own. Resurrection life means being sen sitive to God's dimension. Jesus Christ here is predicting His victory over the grave, the devil and all sin. Since I am physical, I live in this world, in a physical sense. The world may be totally oblivious that I really live in the heavenlies. This causes us to live life in a new and different dimension. People who have never taken Christ as their Saviour could never do that. Only He can give us a supernatural life. We can sense the presence of Christ as we see the ministries of the Holy Spirit. Do you realize what a marvelous legacy is yours being alive to the spiritual world? Imag ine being cut off and insensitive to that which is divine. We have a tendency to forget who we really are. The third thing Christ promises as our own is a supernatural union (vrs. 20-24). Paul gives the testi mony, "Christ liveth in me." This is another very classic dispensa- tional statement. It sets aside the
