being in supernatural union with God. PROMISE OF A SUPERNATURAL TEACHER Jesus Christ has given every be liever an inheritance which can never be taken from us. John 14 presents the graphic picture of the discouraged disciples. Their feel ings of lostness have caused them to be baffled by circumstances. They are somewhat ignorant of the truths He is trying to teach them bringing comfort in a dark hour. Every believer who, by loving obe dience and faith in Jesus Christ, comes into the salvation experi ence, enters into a supernatural union with the Trinity. Think of all of the powers and resources avail able with such a linking. The fourth promise of the be liever's legacy is that of a super natural Teacher (14:25, 26). He, the Holy Spirit, is our resident Teacher of truth. While there is lots of avail able information in the world, there is very little spiritual understand ing. Godless men are on a quest for truth yet they have no hope of finding it. Truth comes only to those who know Christ (I Timothy 2:4). Jesus testified to His disciples, "There is coming one who is going to be your truth Teacher. In My name He will speak truths that are divine." This is the Spirit's minis try (vs. 26). Strangely, many groups today would glamorize the minis try of the Holy Spirit, exhalting Him alone. This would be offen sive to the Teacher. His ministry is rather to point us to Christ. church age in a unique manner. No Old Testament saint could be gin to enter into such a relation ship. This is the mystery of the Church being one body in union with the Saviour. The further com parison is seen in Christ's legacy to the church (Revelation 3:21). When we meet Cod face-to-face we will be seated together with the Son in His resplendant glory. Then in a beautiful summary He crushes the full bloom of redemp tion into one wisp of fragrance (vs. 21). The basic principle is love and obedience. The two go directly together. Loving-obedience makes this union possible. Verse 23 gives the glorious summation, "If a man love Me he will keep My words, and My Father will love him, com ing to make His eternal abode with him." Do you realize that the triune God resides in the believer? The Lord must have something more in mind for me than just collecting my check. There has to be some thing else. Alexander the Great had a won derful horse. The spirited animal had defied every attempt to tame him. The soothsayers of those days foretold that the man who could mount and ride the animal would conquer the world. Alexander was determined to succeed where oth ers had failed. After a number of attempts with no success, he no ticed that the horse was restless of the fear it had of its own shad ow. A simple remedy was hit upon. The horse's head was directed to ward the sun. This is what we have opportunity of doing in a spiritual sense. What victories do we con tinually miss when we fail to take full advantage of our position as
