Transport PM 10 Emissions

Unlike trends for other air pollutants, road transport PM 10 emissions have decreased steadily at an annual average rate of 3% between 2000 and 2019, with a large decrease of 21% in 2020. By contrast to emissions reductions seen in the shipping and rail segments, aviation segment emissions saw an annual average increase of 1.4% between 2000 and 2019 with a 60.6% decrease in 2020 due to restrictions. However, as aviation PM 10 emissions only represent 4.3% of the total, it has not affected the overall trend.
