California started to address this problem through their Title 24, Part 6 Building Energy Efficiency Standards requiring installation of “Cool Roofs”, a roof made up of materials that reflect the sun’s to mitigate the build - ing’s heat retention, on every residential and non-residential building in specific climate zones. Roofers nationwide have followed this trend through white roof system installations using TPO, PVC, and coatings such as acrylic or silicone. These solutions don’t require a property owner to replace their current roof- ing system, saving them up to 70% on labor and material costs.
