Dear Friends, Summer unfolds beautifully in bloom and how better to continue your inspiration than through art around the City. Visit City Hall to view the annual High School Art Exhibition , now through May 24, showcasing student artworks and creative talents. See Page 7 to learn of the award recipients. On view May 26 through August 25 at Great Park Gallery is California Landscapes: Then and Now , which draws on the juxtaposition of California’s early painters to contemporary artists spanning a century with themes in the portrayal of nature. At Irvine Fine Arts Center, join us for the opening reception July 6, 2-4 p.m., for the 40th annual All Media exhibition. This year focuses on the selections from three esteemed guest jurors; see Page 9 for more information. New adult program workshops include a variety of bookbinding skills, see Page 13, and new jewelry techniques, see Page 12. With a continued emphasis to further one’s skill development, let your inspiration expand through a new technique or a spark of creativity to try something different. I encourage you to preview summer courses online at yourirvine.org , available May 1. Note the registration dates within the course preview, as the date or time may have changed. See Page 10 for an outline of those registration dates. Courses will fill quickly; be sure to be ready for the class you’re interested in!
Creatively yours,
Laura Murphy Irvine Fine Arts Center Supervisor
