SGP Prepares For 2016 Sustainability Conference Katarina Tesarova, Vice President of Sustainability for Las Vegas Sands Corp., will serve as the keynote speaker for upcoming 2016 Printing Industry Sustain- ability Conference, hosted by The Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP), which will be held at the Renaissance Las Vegas Hotel on September 13th. As Vice President of Sustainability, Tesarova has de- veloped and implemented a comprehensive sustain- ability strategy designed to measurably reduce Las Vegas Sands’ impact on the environment.The organi- zation’s award-winning sustainability program report- edly lends expertise, manpower, and knowledge to environmental efforts worldwide. Prior to joining Las Vegas Sands, Tesarova led sus- tainable operations and LEED certification programs for MGM Grand and CityCenter. Her leadership re- sulted in six LEED gold certifications for CityCenter, which currently holds the record for the largest new construction LEED-certified project in the world. Tesarova’s keynote speech will address her success- ful integration of sustainable practices into Las Vegas Sands’ local and global initiatives. SGP’s 2016 conference aims to bring together print professionals, buyers, and suppliers to celebrate success- es, share strategies and ideas, and promote best prac- tices for achieving a sustainable printing supply chain. The conference will open with a breakfast panel featuring SGP manufacturing and distribution ex- perts.The day’s sessions will include lessons in over- coming challenges and implementing green printing practices, as well as steps industry leaders can take to drive sustainability beyond SGP certification. The 2016 Printing Industry Sustainability Conference is being hosted in conjunction with the SGIA Expo. FTA Opens 2017 Flexography Awards The Flexographic Technical Association (FTA) has called for entries to the 2017 Excellence in Flexogra- phy Awards. The competition recognizes and cele- brates the outstanding print jobs achieved by an industry always championing for progress. With nine categories, the Excellence in Flexography Awards are open to all organizations, regardless of size, sector or membership status.The categories are:Wide Web; Mid Web; Narrow Web; Combined Corrugated; Preprinted Linerboard; Envelope; Self Promotion; Stu- dent; and Non-traditional. The deadline for entries is January 25, 2017. Winners will be announced at the Annual Awards Banquet, Sunday,April 30.
