AWT Labels & Packaging To Install W&H CI Press

AWT Labels & Packaging, South Elgin, Illinois, will be installing a new 52-inch, 10-color Miraflex Central Impression Cylinder press from Windmoeller & Hoelscher. The installation will begin in October with production scheduled for mid-November. The new press is equipped with 10 printing decks, automated wash up decks and several setup reduc- tion modules that reportedly allow for faster make- readies and color changes, automated viscosity controls for more consistent print quality and auto- mated tension controls. The press also has the capa- bility to register a topcoat to an already printed design. The AVT system provides automated sensing of visual defects while printing. The press will accept roll widths from 31.5 inches to 52 inches and can print an image up to 50 inches wide. The large repeat capabilities up to 31.5 inches will accommodate large format bags and pouches. Sleeve Label Market Share Estimated At 12 Percent Among multiple segments of the global label mar- ket, a new report finds that sleeve labels are antici- pated to be the fastest growing segment. The sleeve labels market is experiencing annual gains of 5.2 percent from $10.6 billion in 2016, ac- cording to a new report from Persistence Market Re- search. The growing demand for beverage and packaged food will drive advances in the industry. Flexographic printing is expected to be the most preferred printing technology among sleeve label manufacturers. Mounting Demand Asia-Pacific is expected to dominate the sleeve la- bels market and register the highest Compound An- nual Growth Rate of 6.2 percent. This trend is attributed to the mounting demand for beverage and packaged food China, India and ASEAN countries. Gaining Momentum North America, though a developed market with multiple market players, is expected to gain momen- tum in the later phase of the forecast period with fu- ture investments in the manufacturing sectors. The mature market of Europe is anticipated to wit- ness uneven growth throughout the forecast period. Moreover, Latin America and MEA sleeve labels mar- kets are expected to register sluggish growth, all over the forecast period.
