A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 10

As we wrap up the penultimate week of the school year, we’ve enjoyed hearing about the incredible experiences students had during their work placements. The variety and inspiring stories have opened their eyes to the world of work and the opportunities available to them. On Tuesday, we held our celebration assembly, recognising students for their contributions to our school ethos of Enjoy, Achieve, and Empower. We celebrated epraise winners both individually and as tutor groups, with 10EHA winning the all-important tutor time quiz prize for their consistent attendance. We also celebrated a variety of additional achievements including Shirl C who participated in the Wool4School 2024 challenge. The theme, Elements, challenged students from around the world to draw inspiration from the natural world, sparking creativity and innovation in their designs. They received many impressive entries that showcased students’ talent and imagination and Shirl was commended and won a top prize, On Monday night we celebrated Uma B who succeeded in reaching the ‘Jack Petchey Speak Out’ Final, one of just 15 candidates from a speaking workshop that all of our year 10 students took part in along with 33,000 around London. Uma performed her speech on stage at the Cambridge theatre in a very professional and impressive show, which was a pleasure to watch. On Wednesday, our English poetry workshop gave students the chance to work on poetry close to their hearts and meet some of the most up-and-coming female British poets, Priyanka Moorjani and Jayda David. This week we also had a large group of students out with the Spanish trip and we heard all about the wonderful time they had on Friday when they returned. We also held an assembly on Friday to recognise students who completed their Duke of Edinburgh awards, celebrating their commitment and dedication, not just on their expedition but also developing new skills and volunteering in the community. As this is the final parental update for the year, I wish all students a well-deserved and peaceful break. I look forward to welcoming them back in September, ready to tackle the challenges ahead with their characteristic strength and determination. Have a great summer!
