This book deals with the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness and was first issued in German during the conflicts that obtained in Europe in 1938. There is much theologicol and spiritual insight in it. HISTORIC PROTESTANTISM AND PREDES­ TINATION by Harry Buis, x, 142 pages; cloth; Presbyterian and Reformed Publishing Co., Philadelphia, $2.75. We are already familiar with the writer from his The Doctrine of Eternal Punishment. There is in these books a basic grasp of Scriptural teaching interpreted in the Reformed tradition. Deep spiritual insights coupled with a vigorous constitution and an appetite for souls moke the book on important document in evangelistic endeavor. The author is a retired school teacher who re­ ceived much of the lore of the early days from her parents and from others who helped to carve out the life which forms a background for this story.
