I have asked my folks about this but they say that I just look healthy and that they don’ t want me going on “ starvation diets.” I am not unhappy for I have many friends, but I never have any dates. I am a Christian and go with the young people to all their affairs at my church. Some day I would like to be a missionary. I have really prayed about this matter for I don’t want to be vain and silly and always thinking about my looks. What do you think I ought to do? Chubby Louise Chicago, III. My Dear Louise: I would not think of laughing at you. Overweight is not a laughing matter for it is psychologically and physical ly harmful. With an extremely “ low” thyroid, I have struggled with this problem for years myself. I hope you can impress this need upon your family so that they will allow you to go to your family doc tor for his advice. He will put you on the right kind of diet for your age. Having had much experience along this line, I know he will agree fully with your parents about “ starva tion diets.” Likely he will tell you simply to eliminate a l l sweets, starches, and fats and to eat plenty of lean meat, eggs, green vegetables, and fruits. No other diet is effective and on no other diet can one remain well. If your heart is all right (and that is why you should visit your doctor) go in for all the exercises you can. It will harden your muscles and give you a wonderful feeling of well being. A hard game of tennis and a good swim afterwards, if engaged in regularly, will reduce anyone! You have a worth-while ambition to be a missionary, and you will need good health and a strong body for that. Now is the time to build it. Having done all these things, quit thinking and talking about your weight. Once I read this clever coup let in the Ladies? Home Journal-. “ If you diet, keep quiet.” Good advice.

Rather, INSPIRING HYMNS is a careful com- l pilation of 527 favorite hymns and Gospel songs. Truly a treasury of the best loved hymns and Gospel songs of the church!
