C hildren famously adore sweets, but what happens when those sweets are exclusively candy instead of fruits, too? Studies show that people learn when, what, and how to eat during the early years of their childhood. That’s why it’s so important to teach them the importance of healthy eating from the start. Since June is National Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Month, we thought we’d bring along a few tricks to improve your diet-mentoring tactics! No. 1: Always provide fruits and vegetables as snacks. Keep fruits washed, cut up, and in plain sight in the refrigerator. If you leave them out in the open, put a glass or plastic cover over them so bugs don’t bother them. No. 2: Serve salads as often as possible. Being a
parent keeps you busy, but there’s plenty of delicious,
prewashed, bagged salad at the grocery store that’s very easy to serve. They’ll even include unique salad ingredients that’d be more time-consuming for you to prepare on your own.

No. 3: Include more vegetarian meals during the week. When you cut out meat, you’re more likely
to rely on mushrooms, spinach, eggplant, or other vegetables to make your meals satisfying. Give vegetarian spaghetti, enchiladas, stir fries, curries, and other foods a try!

broccoli, winter squash, greens, or carrots. Experts say that vitamin C is one of the most effective vitamins, protecting our immune system, heart health, and possibly even skin wrinkling. You’ll find lots of vitamin C in oranges, grapefruit, strawberries, melon, tomato, and broccoli. No. 5: Eat healthy yourself! Kids learn the most by watching — and they watch you the most. If you’re eating healthy, your kids will eventually realize just how beneficial it is as you reap the benefits yourself.
1. First, make the dressing. In a jar, add soy sauce, sesame oil, orange juice, and ginger. Secure the lid and shake until emulsified. 2. In a small bowl, empty the drained tuna and pour the dressing over top. Add the cilantro and scallions and stir until well coated. 3. Divide rice between two serving bowls. Top with the dressed tuna, avocado, tomatoes, and sesame seeds.
